"Betty's still in surgery. Things aren't looking good," Blaze said as he walked back from the operating room.
He had already asked around. By the time Betty arrived at the hospital, her vital signs were already dangerously weak.
The hospital had issued several critical condition notices.
At this point, her chances did not look good.
Wynette frowned after hearing that.
Adriel spoke in a calm voice. "No matter what, keep watching her. As long as she's still breathing, the truth will eventually come out."
Betty was still undergoing treatment, so nobody could say exactly what would happen yet.
Of course, it would be best if she survived. But if she really did not make it, there was nothing they could do about that either.
Blaze had already arranged everything before coming over.
Betty's family was also on their way to the hospital.
He glanced toward the operating room one more time before coldly looking away.
Wynette stayed by Adriel's side the entire time.
While Adriel was getting his IV treatment, Blaze went back to grab a clean set of clothes for him.
Adriel got dressed and let Wynette take him home after the IV was finished.
She was still carrying the medicine he needed to take.
Looking at the empty house, Wynette said softly, "Cooking by yourself probably isn't very convenient right now. Do you want to hire someone part-time, or..."
"I don't like strangers showing up in my house," Adriel said quietly.
That was one of the reasons he always cooked for himself.
At every place he owned, aside from Blaze and Joanne, even his parents rarely visited.
Adriel simply didn't like outsiders stepping into his personal space.
The maids only came by once a week, when he was not home.
Wynette had originally wanted to suggest hiring someone to help take care of his meals and daily routine.
But after hearing him say that, she swallowed the idea immediately.
She quietly studied the man in front of her, trying to think of another solution.
Adriel looked at her and added, "I'll be at the office during the day anyway. Blaze can keep an eye on things. I'll be fine."
Wynette immediately turned toward him. "You're still going to work?"
"It's just a small injury. I'm fine," Adriel answered casually.
He had no intention of letting his family find out he was hurt. He already told Joanne to keep this as a secret, and the news had been locked down quickly.
If he suddenly missed work for several days, his parents would definitely realize something was wrong.
Wynette looked at him, clearly wanting to argue more.
The injury on his arm was not exactly minor. The doctor had specifically warned him not to tear the wound open again, yet he didn't seem worried at all.
Noticing her concern, Adriel spoke again. "Oh, right. I already talked to Grandpa. Dr. Clem will be back in a few days. You can bring your dad to see him."
Virgil Clem was the old traditional doctor Adriel had mentioned before.
Wynette was honestly shocked by how quickly he handled things.
"Thank you," she said gratefully.
Truthfully, Adriel did not like to hear Wynette thank him so formally.
Still, he didn't say anything about it.
Since Alice was moving that day, Wynette eventually gave in and brought the injured Adriel along to Alice's new house.
Even though they all lived in the same neighborhood, Alice's house was still a little distance away from Wynette's.
Was this really happening?

Seriously! Did this thing really have to go this slow? It was slower than she had imagined.
