The next morning, before leaving for work, Wynette texted Adriel to ask if he wanted a ride to the office.
His reply came almost instantly. "Yes."
By the time Wynette finished breakfast, Adriel was already there.
He was holding a bouquet of flowers.
The second he saw her, he handed them over. "Morning."
Wynette accepted the flowers, clearly puzzled.
Where had he even gotten flowers at such an hour?
Noticing her expression, Adriel explained, "My grandparents had someone deliver them before sunrise."
The truth was Blaze had gone to the estate early that morning to pick the flowers and bring them over.
Adriel had trimmed and wrapped them himself. Since his left arm was injured, the wrapping looked a little rough around the edges.
Originally, he had planned to let Blaze drive him today.
When he received Wynette's text, he immediately told Blaze to stay home and leave for the company later.
Blaze had nearly rolled his eyes at the ceiling when he heard that. Ever since his boss started trying to curry the favor of his wife, he seemed to lose a few brain cells every day.
At this point, Blaze felt like he was just another prop in Adriel's romance plan.
Wynette set the flowers on the back seat and smiled at him. "Your grandparents went through all that trouble early in the morning? And you just let them?"
Adriel buckled his seat belt and corrected her right away. "You're thinking too much. Older people wake up early anyway. My grandpa's up around four every morning taking care of the farm. He spends half the day feeding chickens, ducks, and geese. Grandma's usually up by five working in her vegetable garden."
That was the whole reason they bought so much land in the first place.
These days, only the grandparents still live at the old estate. Adriel's parents could not stand the noise from all the animals and had moved to another neighborhood years ago.
Joanne and Adriel still visited often to keep the old couple company.
Though recently, Adriel had been too busy chasing his wife to go home much.
When the grandparents found out he had finally come to his senses and started chasing after his wife, they had been so happy they nearly celebrated with fireworks.
Lila even dragged Adriel aside for a long heart-to-heart talk. She kept hinting that love had nothing to do with gender. If he ever met someone he truly liked, he should just bring them home. She and Carl were not narrow-minded old people.
The whole conversation left Adriel caught between laughter and helplessness. In the end, he had practically sworn on his life that he liked women before Lila finally gave up on trying to introduce him to men.
Now that she knew her grandson was straight, Lila supported him completely.
If Adriel had not worried about spoking Wynette, Lila would have rushed over to meet her.
Wynette laughed softly after hearing all that. "Young people really do have terrible schedules. Your grandparents sleep early and wake early in the morning. No wonder they can run an entire farm. We should learn from them."
Adriel glanced at her. "You mean sleeping before seven and waking up at four?"
Even he shook his head at that lifestyle.
Only older people could handle a schedule like that these days. Modern young adults were all busy working nonstop.
Most regular office jobs ran from nine to five. By the time people got off work and grabbed dinner, it was already around six.
Then they still had their things to deal with. Before they knew it, it was already close to midnight.
Going to sleep at seven was impossible.
Wynette burst out laughing too. "Maybe when we're old. Right now? No chance. Corporate slaves are still out here working ourselves to death."
For someone like her who stayed up late regularly, seven at night was usually when she officially started getting busy.
Adriel nodded in agreement.
"Did you decide on the design for the fashion show?" he asked, finally remembering the discussion between Wynette and Alice the night before.
He had spent so much time flirting with Wynette that he completely forgot to ask how it went.
Wynette nodded. "Yeah, we finalized them. Today we're making the samples. If everything turns out fine, the models will come in for measurements, and then the designers can start on the final pieces."
As long as nothing unexpected happened, the schedule should still work out fine.
