He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 150

Wynette gave a faint smile. "Justin's not the type to hand over his position. And he's definitely not trying to make peace. He's only stalling for time."

After dealing with the Shepherds for years, Wynette understood their family dynamics well enough.

She did not believe Justin suddenly came to her out of goodwill.

More likely, he was secretly planning another move.

Adriel replied quietly, "So you think he's still going after the Jewells?"

"Maybe." Wynette fell silent for a moment before speaking again. "There's actually something I've never been able to figure out. Back then, Justin nearly drove us into bankruptcy. But during these past three years, he never tried to fully acquire or swallow up my company.

"At first, I thought he was only using us to hide something for Shepherd Group. But in the end, he mostly used those projects to line his own pockets. If money was all he wanted, wouldn't it have been simpler to sabotage the projects completely and let us collapse under the blame?"

That question had stayed in Wynette's mind ever since she discovered Dawn knew Eve, and that the Shepherds might have been connected to Jewell Group's crisis years ago.

So many of Jewell Group's projects ended up benefiting Shepherd Group. The contracts even stated clearly that if problems happened, Jewell Group would take full responsibility.

With Justin's personality, purposely ruining the projects sounded much more like something he would do.

The call suddenly went silent.

After a long pause, Adriel finally spoke. "What do you mean when you say Justin almost bankrupted your family back then? Winnie, what do you know?"

He immediately caught the key in her words.

Wynette realized she had accidentally revealed too much.

After hesitating briefly, she told him everything Lorelei had revealed during their deal that day.

Adriel's tone grew heavier. "So the Shepherds wanted to destroy your family years ago. But for the last three years, Justin still hasn't made his final move. Could something be holding him back?"

Within seconds, Adriel had already thought of another possibility.

Wynette nodded lightly. "That should be it. Justin's too ambitious. There's no way he'd willingly give up the heir position."

Adriel asked, "Have you found Dawn?"

Wynette let out a quiet sigh. "Not yet. But how did you know I was searching for her?"

She was starting to notice something. Adriel had gotten ridiculously good at reading her.

No matter what she was thinking or doing, he always seemed able to guess it.

Oddly enough, she did not hate that feeling.

Adriel laughed softly. "Guess we really are on the same page. Send me Dawn's information. I'll have Blaze help looking for her."

The more people helping, the better the chances.

Wynette did not turn down his offer.

Since she was driving, Adriel did not continue the conversation and soon hung up.

As soon as Wynette returned to the company, Shirley hurried after her.

"Lorelei decided to settle privately," Shirley said.

Recently, she had been closely watching everything happening with the Shepherds. Not long after Wynette left the office, Lorelei and Eve both went to the police station.

Eve paid nearly 20 million to convince Lorelei to withdraw the charges. The matter was settled in private.

Shirley frowned. "Ms. Jewell, what do you think Lorelei's trying to do?"

Shirley had honestly believed that Lorelei would fight Eve to the very end, given her earlier determination.
