He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 1022

"Thank you." Helena didn't refuse.

Susan saw Helena out at the door before closing it behind them.

Helena took Skye to kindergarten first.

She watched the little girl go inside before driving toward Northgate University.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed.

It was a call from Carter Miles.

Helena instinctively checked the date.

Carter usually contacted her punctually on the first of every month.

It was never about anything else—just to confirm that Skye's child support had been deposited into her account.

But today wasn't the first. Had something happened?

Without hesitation, she answered, "Hello, Mr. Miles."

"Ms. Wallace, the thing is, you left your cardholder at the restaurant last night. Mr. Hayes only noticed it when he was paying the bill. He asked me to give you a call and bring it over if it's convenient for you," Carter finished with a polite tone.

Helena looked down at her everyday bag.

She indeed couldn't find her cardholder.

It must have slipped out when she stood up earlier, and she simply hadn't noticed.

"Alright. Thank you for the trouble. I'm at the university; just give me a call when you arrive," Helena replied.

"Understood," Carter nodded.

He paused for a moment before adding, "Ms. Wallace, one more thing. Mr. Hayes is going to see the young Miss today, so I'm giving you a heads-up. He's picking her up for dinner and wanted to ask if you'd like to join them. If you're willing, you can eat together. If not, there's no pressure."

Helena listened quietly.

This was the first time she felt Sebastian was drawing such a clear line between them.

Ever since their last conversation, he truly hadn't contacted her, let alone tried to see her.

He kept in touch with Skye, but they hadn't met in person either.

Coming to the Capital this time, seeing Skye was within Helena's expectations.

But for him to distance himself so thoroughly was still surprising.

He showed absolutely no intention of crossing paths with her.
