Sebastian's bodyguards rushed in, pinning Helena firmly in place.
He strode over, offering the terrified woman no mercy. He looked at the doctor and coldly commanded, "Inject her."
Helena's eyes blew wide in sheer panic. "No... please, no!"
Even as the cold steel pierced her skin and the sedative flooded her system, she fought with everything she had.
"Stop moving, Helena," Sebastian warned softly.
It wasn't until the drugs finally dragged her under, rendering her completely unconscious, that the room plunged into an eerie silence.
Even in her drug-induced sleep, the raw, lingering terror never left her face.
She trembled violently, trapped in some agonizing nightmare.
She mumbled frantically, "No, no... please, don't..."
It was a soul-crushing terror that radiated from the deepest, most broken parts of her mind.
"What is going on with her? Is this a reaction to the sedative?" Sebastian turned and demanded of the doctor.
Her convulsions were becoming alarmingly violent.
Acting on instinct, he grabbed her hand to hold her still.
Instantly, her fingers dug into his flesh with shocking ferocity.
It was the desperate grip of someone drowning.
Her nails left brutal, bloody crescent moons carved into his wrist.
The sheer, agonizing desperation behind her grip was undeniable.
The doctor frowned in confusion but maintained a professional composure. "A basic sedative wouldn't cause this kind of physical response. It just forces the body to sleep and calm down, occasionally causing mild amnesia upon waking."
He stepped closer, studying Helena's distressed state with a severe expression.
"Mrs. Hayes is exhibiting signs of extreme psychological distress. It appears to be a severe phobia of the needle itself. As for the root cause, we would need to speak with her once she's lucid to fully evaluate the trauma," the doctor explained quickly.
Sebastian's expression darkened considerably.
His mind immediately drifted to her time living at the Hayes Estate.
He was well aware that her seven years as his wife hadn't exactly been a fairytale.
Aside from his grandpa, everyone in the family despised her. Even the maids were insubordinate behind closed doors.
Stepping into the hall, Sebastian immediately ordered his bodyguards to retrieve Wynn from his ward and transfer him to the Hayes Estate.
The men moved to execute the command without hesitation.
Sebastian knew perfectly well how deeply the siblings cared for each other.
If he wanted Helena to submit, he needed Wynn trapped directly under his roof. That would keep her on a tight leash.
She would never risk upsetting her fragile brother.
A cruel satisfaction flickered in his eyes as he watched the bodyguards whisk a bewildered Wynn away.
And he hadn't bothered to mention a single word of his plan to Helena.
Only after Wynn's transport had departed did he finally walk back toward her suite.
As he approached her door, his phone buzzed. It was Janetta's assistant.
He answered it immediately but didn't utter a word.
The assistant's anxious, trembling voice came through the receiver. "Mr. Hayes, the recent media scandal has put Ms. Ramirez under an immense amount of stress. She's in terrible shape right now. She's pregnant, and she refuses to bother you about it, but I'm terrified something is going to happen to her. I only called to ask if you could please come see her."
