He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 189

The cramping in her abdomen was getting worse.

But she stubbornly refused to make a sound, pressing her fingers against the floor until her knuckles turned white.

Hearing the commotion, the butler hurried over and immediately took in the scene.

His expression shifted slightly, instantly realizing that she was in medical distress.

Given her high-risk pregnancy, there was absolutely no room for error.

He immediately turned to Sebastian. "Mr. Hayes, I'll call Dr. Chapman right away. The madam seems to be in a lot of pain. She looks terribly pale."

Sebastian said nothing, slipping one hand casually into his pocket as he stood there with cold indifference.

His dark gaze locked onto Helena, his expression growing complicated.

Having worked for the Hayes family for years, the butler knew better than anyone that Sebastian wasn't nearly as indifferent to Helena as he pretended to be.

Without waiting for permission, he quickly turned and dialed Dr. Chapman.

A maid immediately rushed forward. "Madam, let me help you back to your room."

Helena gave a weak nod. "Thank you."

Even forcing those two words out took everything she had.

But throughout the entire ordeal, she never once looked at Sebastian.

He didn't stop them, simply watching as the maid helped her back into the master bedroom.

After a long silence, he lowered his gaze, his hand tightening into a fist inside his pocket.

They had been married for seven years. He knew her well enough by now.

He knew for a fact that she didn't lie.

So what exactly was going on with those phone calls to Janetta?

Where did the call logs on her phone come from?

The proof was undeniable, yet her eyes had been perfectly clear and honest.

Was Janetta the one playing games?

His gaze darkened. It was the first time he had ever truly doubted Janetta.

Especially given how aggressive she had been lately, even using her departure to force his hand.

Sebastian gave a low sound of acknowledgment and ended the call.

Almost the second he hung up, Beau Sterling's name flashed across the screen. He answered it.

Beau's voice immediately came through. "Did you really let Janetta leave?"

Leaning casually against the second-floor railing, Sebastian replied smoothly, "Since when did you start sticking your nose into my business?"

His tone was flat, showing absolutely zero intention of answering the question.

Beau fell silent, hesitating as if he was carefully weighing his next words.

A heavy silence settled between them.

Sebastian was the one to finally break it. "She was hell-bent on leaving. I chased her, I tried to make her stay, and she still refused. What exactly am I supposed to do? Get on my knees and beg her?"

He let out a sharp scoff, his words dripping with pure irritation.

"She's been throwing tantrums left and right lately, trying to make me miserable. Fine, she can do whatever she wants. If I cave to her every single demand, she'll only get more brazen," his voice grew colder by the second, fully displaying his displeasure with Janetta.

But when he thought of the medical report from Mass General, it was impossible to say he wasn't at least slightly concerned.

Still, if she refused to back down, he certainly wasn't going to be the one to surrender first.
