As her pregnancy progressed into the later stages, Helena's trips to the bathroom became increasingly frequent.
It was starting to take a serious toll on her sleep.
But she never expected to run into Janetta and Sebastian in the hallway leading to the restroom.
Talk about bad luck.
She stood perfectly still.
The two of them were blocking her path, leaving her awkwardly trapped. She couldn't move forward, but turning back felt like a retreat.
So, she waited.
Her gaze was devoid of emotion as she quietly watched the drama unfold.
"Seb, are you really going to ignore me? I'm back," Janetta pleaded, desperately clutching Sebastian's arm.
Her eyes were brimming with unshed tears, looking as though she might break down crying at any second.
In the past, this fragile look had always tugged at Sebastian's heartstrings.
But today, he stood like a statue, staring down at her with cold indifference.
Panic flashed in Janetta's eyes, and she instinctively stepped closer.
"Seb, please talk to me. I missed you so much while I was gone, and the baby missed you too," she whimpered, her voice dripping with sorrow.
"It wasn't that I didn't want to come back. I just couldn't..." She bit her lower lip, practically pressing her entire body against him.
Still, Sebastian didn't flinch.
Janetta was losing her mind.
Fat tears spilled down her cheeks as she threw her slender arms around his waist.
"Seb, I'm begging you. Don't be mad at me. Just say something, please?"
A long silence stretched between them.
"Say what?" Sebastian finally asked, his voice chillingly flat.
A glimmer of hope ignited in Janetta's teary eyes. "Seb, you're talking to me. You're not mad anymore, right?"
Sebastian fell silent again.
The tug-of-war continued.
The urge to use the restroom was becoming impossible to ignore.
She was just debating whether to turn around and find another bathroom when her foot accidentally nudged a metal trash can.
A sharp clatter echoed through the quiet corridor.
Helena jumped at the sudden noise.
Janetta froze in terror. "Who's there?"
She was terrified that a reporter was lurking in the shadows, snapping photos of her humiliating breakdown. She couldn't afford to lose face like this.
Sebastian's predatory gaze instantly snapped toward the sound.
He was punishing Janetta, but he had no intention of providing entertainment for an audience, especially if the press was involved.
Realizing she had been spotted, Helena had nowhere left to hide.
She decided to step out into the open.
There was no point in dodging them anymore.
"Helena, did you do that on purpose? Were you eavesdropping on us?" Janetta demanded, her brows knitting together, though she kept her voice deceptively soft.
