"I have never once had that intention," she said, forcing her voice to remain steady as she looked him dead in the eye.
She fiercely slapped his hand away.
Vicious red marks were already blooming across her luminous skin.
"Stop making me the villain the moment you open your mouth!" she fired back. "I had no idea Janetta was out there waiting for you, and I couldn't care less about the filthy things going on between the two of you."
Her eyes were rimmed with red, her raw hurt impossible to hide.
Years of silent suffering were finally exploding to the surface.
"You..." Sebastian ground out, fighting to keep his temper in check.
Helena stared up at him and screamed right in his face.
"Me what?" She shoved away his attempt to grab her again. "You are the last person on earth who has any right to point a finger at me."
"..."
"On our very first day of marriage, you abandoned me in that massive estate to deal with your mother all on my own. You claimed you had emergency business overseas, but you were actually flying out to see her."
"..."
"Five years ago, when I had the miscarriage, she called you once and you ran right to her side. You left me alone at the hospital so your mother could scream at me for having no self-control, accusing me of trying to seduce you just to secure my status in the family."
"..."
"Not to mention my birthdays. Every single year, you fly out early to be with her. Your excuse is always that she has heavy business ties to the Hayes family, and you expect me to just 'be understanding.' You've never once considered how I feel. Whenever I get sick, you just brush me off and send me to the doctor alone. Whenever I begged to go out and get a job, you locked me up in that house and demanded I stay home and play the perfect Mrs. Hayes."
"..."
"I used to genuinely believe we had a future together. I thought we'd grow old together. Now I realize it was all just a pathetic delusion."
...
She laid out his every betrayal, piece by piece.
