He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 278

The underlying implication was crystal clear to everyone in the room.

If a matching cornea existed out there, they would seize it by any means necessary.

Even if it meant tearing it from someone else's cold, dead hands.

Without another word, Sebastian turned and strode toward Janetta's hospital room, a dark cloud hanging over him.

Beau quickly followed suit.

Inside the room, Janetta had already regained consciousness.

The moment she saw Sebastian, tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

"Sebastian, I'm so sorry..." she sobbed softly.

He closed the distance instantly.

Without a second thought, she threw her arms around him, burying her face against his chest.

"I was so terrified you were never going to speak to me again. I was so scared our baby would grow up without a father," she cried, her voice trembling with genuine terror.

Her panic was entirely palpable.

Sebastian held her close, coaxing her in a low, gentle voice. "Don't cry. You're okay. Neither you nor the baby are going anywhere."

"You're not angry anymore, right?" she asked, looking up at him with wide, anxious eyes.

"How could I be angry with you?" his tone softened completely.

Reassured by his warmth, Janetta finally relaxed, nodding obediently.

"I promise I'll never act out like that again. No matter what happens, I'll always stay right by your side," she swore, looking up at him like he was her entire world.

"I know," Sebastian replied.

Janetta leaned peacefully into his embrace.

He held her, remaining entirely silent for a long time.

Beau stood off to the side, observing without a word.

It wasn't until Janetta finally pulled back that she noticed the other man in the room. "Beau, thank you."

"Don't mention it," Beau replied smoothly, offering a polite nod.

Even tonight, when he had firmly taken her side to punish Janetta, Helena hadn't softened in the slightest. Every word out of her mouth had felt like a dagger straight to his chest.

Thinking of the submissive little wife who used to revolve her entire existence around him—and how recklessly defiant she had become—Sebastian felt a deep sense of lost control.

And he absolutely despised losing control.

Janetta read the subtle shift in his demeanor perfectly.

She looked at him with innocent, hesitant eyes. "Should you go back and check on her? Arthur and the staff are here with me, you don't need to worry. If she's home alone and something happens, it's going to be a disaster. Isn't her baby important to you?"

Her gentle coaxing masked a very dangerous gamble.

She was betting that Sebastian wouldn't abandon her again tonight.

"There's no need. Just rest. We can talk about that later," he replied flatly.

Those few words instantly put Janetta at ease, filling her with a profound sense of triumph.

"Okay," she replied sweetly, knowing exactly when to stop pushing.

Sebastian remained right where he was, watching over her.
