Due to the heavy sedatives, Janetta was incredibly drained and soon drifted off to sleep.
Beau had already quietly slipped out of the room.
Sebastian waited until Janetta was completely under before he finally stood up.
He couldn't deny it—Janetta's innocent remark had struck a nerve.
Helena was home alone.
When he left, he swore she had looked unusually pale.
Then again, she had looked utterly exhausted ever since the pregnancy began.
Sebastian's chest tightened. He stood frozen in the middle of the room.
Right at that moment, his phone vibrated. It was a call from the butler.
Sebastian's expression shifted, and he immediately answered.
Once things at the hospital had stabilized, Arthur had rushed back to the estate, knowing they couldn't leave a pregnant woman completely unattended.
Seeing the butler calling him so suddenly sent a jarring spike of dread through Sebastian's chest.
"Mr. Hayes, something's happened! Mrs. Hayes is gone, and the second-floor hallway... there's blood everywhere!" Arthur's voice trembled with sheer terror.
He was staring at the pristine carpet, now heavily stained with crimson.
The terrifying trail of blood started from the master bedroom and dragged all the way to the top of the stairs.
It instantly triggered horrifying memories of similar tragedies.
And to make matters infinitely worse, Helena was pregnant.
The baby she was carrying was Sebastian's ultimate leverage for his corporate shares.
Arthur didn't even want to imagine the apocalyptic rage Sebastian would unleash if something happened to Helena.
And now, the heavily pregnant woman had simply vanished into thin air.
"She's a pregnant woman, how the hell could she just vanish?!" Sebastian roared, his heart pounding erratically.
"I... I don't know! It was like this when I got back..." the butler stammered weakly.
"Check the security footage immediately. I'm on my way," Sebastian ordered with lethal calm.
"Yes, sir," Arthur replied, not daring to waste another second.
The butler immediately turned and sprinted toward the security room.
Sebastian grabbed his car keys and bolted out of the hospital suite.
