In the late stages of her pregnancy, Helena's body simply couldn't handle this kind of violent stimulation.
Coupled with the relentless police interrogations, her nerves had been frayed down to the wire.
And ever since Janetta's return, the psychological warfare had been chipping away at her sanity.
It was crushing her, piece by piece.
Helena genuinely didn't know how much longer she could hold on.
Sebastian's ruthless lack of restraint caused the baby to stir frantically within her.
The untreated blisters from the scalding water had been neglected for too long.
Now, the pain seemed to seep deep into her bones.
Sebastian saw everything clearly.
A complicated emotion flickered in his eyes, but he masked it instantly.
He remained silent, his grip tightening as the heavy, musky scent of their encounter filled the room.
Only when Helena finally broke and let out an agonizing scream did he abruptly bring it to an end.
He stood up, staring down at her with a dark expression as he caught his breath.
She looked equally ravaged.
In the final moments of her struggle, her clothes had slipped completely off her shoulders.
Her hair was a messy tangle; she looked thoroughly humiliated and trapped.
Yet, the look she leveled at him was laced with pure, unadulterated hatred.
She didn't blink.
"You hate me?" he asked coldly.
He stepped closer, towering over her as he demanded an answer.
She didn't reply.
But her defiant silence spoke volumes.
He let out a cruel laugh. "Even if you hate me, you can't escape me. Not until I get bored of you."
"Sebastian, we agreed. After the baby is born..." she reminded him.
He cut her off, blunt and callous. "I changed my mind."
It was the response of a tyrant.
The color drained from her face.
He continued to stare her down.
The cooling gel seeped into her scorched flesh.
After the initial sting faded, a soothing chill replaced the fiery agony.
"Clean yourself up and get out," he ordered in a low growl.
He tossed the tube back onto her lap.
Having fixed his clothes, he turned on his heel and strode out of the room.
Helena stared down at her lap, sitting in absolute silence for a long time.
The baby inside her gradually settled down.
Soft, rhythmic kicks fluttered against her skin, almost as if trying to comfort her.
She gently rested a hand on her stomach. "Be good, baby. You have to hold on until the very end, okay?"
A tiny shift answered her plea.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, she gathered whatever strength she had left and slowly stood up.
She made her way back out.
The living room was quiet.
"Ms. Wallace, Madam Hayes wants you to clean this place up," Arthur sighed as he approached her.
