The doctor didn't say anything, but he fully understood the weight of Sebastian's order.
"Understood," he replied.
Right at that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed outside the office.
One of the bodyguards rushed up to Sebastian.
"Mr. Hayes, the OB-GYN department is looking for you. Ms. Wallace is completely hysterical. The baby is unstable, and the fetal heart rate is plummeting," the bodyguard said, his tone laced with panic.
Sebastian's expression shifted. Without a moment's hesitation, he strode straight toward the emergency operating room.
Helena was still inside.
Sebastian didn't enter. The surgical lights above the doors remained glaringly bright.
The doctor's assistant looked at Sebastian with profound tension. "Mr. Hayes, the patient's condition is extremely critical. Dr. Chapman wants you to be prepared."
The assistant paused for a moment before adding, "Dr. Chapman also needs to know how you want to proceed with the baby."
"If it can survive for at least half a month after birth, perform the C-section immediately," Sebastian said coldly.
The sheer cruelty and ruthlessness of his words were glaringly apparent.
The assistant had somewhat anticipated this, but hearing Sebastian say it out loud was a different story.
It still sent a chill down his spine.
Yet, the assistant knew better than to argue. "Understood. I'll go inform Dr. Chapman."
Sebastian didn't reply.
He thought he would simply turn and walk away after giving his orders.
But instead, he found himself rooted to the floor outside the emergency room doors.
He stood completely motionless.
He couldn't put a name to what he was feeling—only that it was an overwhelming, suffocating wave of despair.
He stood there for a long time, until the surgical lights finally clicked off and the doors swung open.
Helena was wheeled out of the room.
She had an IV drip in her hand and was still unconscious.
Beneath the hospital blankets, the swell of her stomach was proof that the baby was still alive.
Dr. Chapman looked mildly surprised to see Sebastian still waiting there.
Given her medical history, everyone knew exactly what that meant.
So, Dr. Chapman had performed an emergency cerclage, stitching her cervix closed.
It was a temporary, artificial fix, far from a natural safeguard.
It meant Helena had to remain on strict bed rest for the pregnancy to stay stable.
Any emotional spike would cause the entire procedure to fail.
Dr. Chapman's face drained of color.
Sebastian reacted even faster. As soon as the nurse finished speaking, he shoved past them and stormed into the room.
Dr. Chapman and the nurses were caught off guard, but they quickly hurried in after him.
The second Helena saw Sebastian, she tried to throw herself out of the bed without a second thought.
But Sebastian was faster. He grabbed her arm, pinning her in place.
"Sebastian, I need to see Wynn. I need to know he's okay," Helena demanded, enunciating every syllable.
"So you're willing to throw away the baby just to see him? Is that it?" Sebastian asked, his face a mask of ice.
