The very thing Helena had once desperately longed for was now something she dreaded.
Suppressing her emotions, she sat quietly on the sofa by the floor-to-ceiling windows.
She rested both hands on her swollen belly.
Stroking it gently, rhythmically.
As the baby grew larger with each passing month, the frantic kicks from the earlier trimesters had mellowed into a quiet stillness.
"You have to hold on until it's time, baby. Do you hear me?"
Helena whispered softly.
The baby shifted inside her, almost as if answering.
Meanwhile, at the hospital.
Janetta was in the middle of a screaming match, hurling everything in her room until it looked like a war zone.
The doctors and nurses were too terrified to step inside.
Even Janetta's Assistant hovered anxiously by the door.
They all exchanged helpless glances.
This kind of meltdown had become a daily occurrence.
By the time Sebastian arrived, the room was in absolute ruins.
At first, he tried to soothe her.
But patience only stretched so far before irritation began to seep in.
Sebastian, however, expertly masked his annoyance.
Because this was Janetta.
His tolerance for her had always been exceptionally high.
"What is it today?" Sebastian asked, looking down at her.
Exhausted from her tantrum, Janetta didn't shy away from his intense gaze.
"Are you hurting somewhere?" he pressed, forcing a patient tone.
"Seb, why is my vision getting blurrier?" Janetta demanded, staring right at him.
Her slender, trembling fingers gripped his arm tightly.
"You're standing right in front of me, and I have to focus for so long just to make out your face."
Her voice shook with undeniable panic.
"I've never been like this before. But lately, it's getting worse."
"I asked the OB-GYN and the nurses, and they all swear I'm fine."
"But I know it's not that simple."
