He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 36

Helena stumbled, collapsing awkwardly onto the edge of the leather seat.

Sebastian stared down at her like she was dirt beneath his boots, his demeanor turning even more frigid.

"Get her out of here," he commanded the bodyguard.

The burly man stepped forward, trying to reason with her. "Mrs. Hayes, please, just go home. Mr. Hayes is furious right now, there's no talking to him. If you keep pushing, this is only going to turn into a public spectacle."

Carter Miles rushed over, having just caught wind of the commotion.

A crowd was already gathering, cell phones inching out of pockets.

Carter couldn't believe his eyes. Helena, the woman who had spent seven years bending to Sebastian's every whim, was actively fighting back in the middle of the street.

If this dragged out any longer, the Hayes family name was going to get dragged through the mud.

Without hesitation, Carter stepped in and gave the bodyguard a curt nod.

The man immediately broke away to start clearing the gawkers.

"Mrs. Hayes, let me take you home," Carter offered, softening his voice.

He reached out to help her up.

Sebastian watched the entire exchange in icy silence, but his hand tightened into a fist. His brow furrowed in extreme agitation.

This version of Helena was completely alien to him.

The Helena he knew was always soft, compliant, and ready to serve at his beck and call.

She had never been this fiercely stubborn. Even when radiating total despair, she refused to lower her head and give in.

She wouldn't even offer a single word of submission.

Her defiant face burned itself into his retinas.

Suddenly, he let out a harsh scoff. "Get lost."

It was a lethal mix of rage, frustration, and wounded pride exploding all at once.

"If you don't know how to do your damn job, get the hell out of my sight!" he barked at Carter.

Carter blanched, instantly recognizing the violent storm brewing behind his boss's eyes.
