He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 390

His unblinking stare made Janetta's skin crawl.

"Seb..." she called his name again, a hint of unease bleeding into her voice.

His burning gaze remained fixed intently on her.

"How did you know the baby wasn't doing well?" he asked quietly.

His tone was perfectly level, making it impossible to read his true emotions.

No one had uttered a single word to the public about his daughter's critical collapse.

Because it directly impacted whether the massive stock transfer would succeed.

Corporate vultures were circling.

If word got out that the heir was dying, they would use every dirty trick in the book to exploit the weakness.

Even with heavy security, sabotage was always a looming threat.

The viciousness of ultra-wealthy families was far beyond normal comprehension.

And yet, by some miraculous coincidence, Janetta knew.

He suddenly remembered when Wynn died.

She had found out about that with suspicious speed, too.

Had she planted informants all around him?

A dark, chilling shadow flickered in his eyes.

It was a dangerous realization.

But he masked it flawlessly, not letting her see a hint of his suspicion.

"I guessed. I saw everyone running down the hall looking panicked, so I just put two and two together," she replied smoothly.

Her eyes were wide and open, portraying complete innocence.

But internally, her palms were slick with cold sweat.

She was terrified he would catch onto her.

Her calm exterior was nothing more than a well-rehearsed act.

"Just focus on taking care of yourself. Let me handle this mess, okay?" he coaxed softly, burying his dark thoughts.

She offered an obedient nod.

The suffocating tension from moments ago finally dissipated.

Neither of them rushed to break the returning silence.

"Do you absolutely need Helena's cornea to drop the lawsuit?" he suddenly asked.

She looked up, a spark of genuine excitement lighting up her eyes.

She was overjoyed.

All of her lingering doubts and insecurities were instantly vaporized.

She gazed up at him with burning excitement. "Really?"

"You drop the lawsuit," he stated coldly.

"Seb, are we going to get married?" she pressed eagerly.

Everything was finally falling perfectly into place.

She couldn't contain her elation.

"Jana, I told you, we'll talk about that once I've dealt with this current situation," he said calmly.

"There's still the matter of my marriage to Helena. You don't want me committing bigamy, do you?"

His voice grew even quieter, an ocean of unreadable calm.

She knew when to back off.

If she kept pushing her luck now, she would be the one acting irrational.

"Okay. I'll wait for you," she agreed sweetly.

But before he could turn away, she had one last demand. "When can I have the surgery? My vision is getting worse by the day."
