Sebastian gave a low hum, offering no further comment.
"Additionally, the cornea match is incredibly high. We'll remove her stitches in three days. Once Ms. Ramirez adjusts, her vision should fully return," the doctor elaborated.
Sebastian just listened in silence.
The doctor paused for a moment before adding, "Since Ms. Wallace's cornea wasn't in perfect health, even with the restored sight, her vision won't be flawless."
"Understood," Sebastian nodded vaguely.
Leaving the conversation at that, he turned and strode into the hospital suite.
Janetta was already awake, propped up against the pillows.
Despite her bandaged eyes, she could pinpoint his familiar footsteps with startling accuracy.
She immediately turned her head in his direction.
Her hands reached out into the empty space, searching for him.
"Sebastian, you're here," she said, her voice soft and sweet.
He closed the distance between them.
Yet, he didn't reach out to take her hand.
Instead, the moment Janetta's fingers brushed against him, she naturally wrapped her arms around his waist.
Sebastian didn't pull away. He simply stood there, looking down at her.
"I knew you cared about me the most. The doctor just told me I'll be able to see as soon as the bandages come off."
Her tone was perfectly delicate, though the raw excitement bubbling beneath her words was unmistakable.
The doctor entered the room shortly after to perform a check-up.
Janetta was entirely cooperative.
Sebastian didn't say a single word throughout the examination.
"Will I have any more problems after this?" Janetta asked the doctor eagerly.
"No, you don't need to worry about that. Just ensure you don't strain your eyes," the doctor replied with a reassuring smile.
"That's wonderful." Janetta's thrill was palpable.
"I'll leave you and Mr. Hayes to your privacy now," the doctor said pleasantly.
He quickly turned and left the room, leaving Sebastian and Janetta alone.
"A bit of both," he answered indifferently.
"Do you not trust me?" she demanded softly.
"I never said that," Sebastian denied smoothly.
Janetta suddenly let out a light laugh. "Sebastian, I recall making two demands. The other was that you'd marry me, wasn't it?"
His predatory gaze darkened as it settled on her.
After a long pause, he said, "The shares were only just transferred. It's going to take some time to finalize the divorce proceedings. I remember telling you this."
The unspoken warning in his words was clear: if she kept pushing the issue...
She would be the one acting unreasonable.
Janetta wasn't stupid; she caught his drift perfectly.
"Okay," she relented, dropping the subject for now.
"Could you do me a favor and call my assistant in?" she asked him with practiced sweetness.
Sebastian gave a curt nod of agreement.
