"And even though Hope is gone, I'm taking her ashes with me. Keeping them is useless to you."
"Riverton traditions won't allow keeping a premature infant's ashes because of Bad Omens, right?"
Helena was blunt.
It was the hard truth.
The Hayes Estate was an extremely traditional family that paid close attention to Bad Omens.
Hope would never be given a proper burial.
Cremation was highly unlikely as well.
In the end, she would just become Medical Waste.
But Helena didn't care about traditions. She wanted to lay Hope to rest herself.
At the very least, it would prove that her baby had existed.
Every single word she spoke was designed to sever her ties with Sebastian.
Sebastian was infuriated.
Helena showed no intention of backing down, holding her ground fiercely.
He looked down at her, the light in his eyes growing darker and more ominous.
Helena felt the danger, but she didn't flinch away from his gaze.
It wasn't until Sebastian's fingers forcefully gripped her chin that her brow furrowed in sheer resistance.
His low, suppressed voice echoed in her ear.
He was constantly on the verge of erupting.
"Helena, is Julian Campbell's sudden appearance the reason you're trying so desperately to leave me?" he demanded.
Helena neither confirmed nor denied it, merely staring at him in silence.
"I told you, as long as the Campbell family stands, you and Julian will never happen. He's their sole heir. Why would they take such a massive risk?"
"Do you honestly think Julian's stubbornness can force his family to compromise? Sure, maybe a temporary concession, but do you really believe you'd have a good life if you joined the Campbell family?"
Sebastian let out a cruel scoff.
The bloodshed in high society was always completely invisible.
On the surface, everyone played nice, projecting an image of perfect harmony and wealth.
But under those very circumstances, someone could easily vanish without a trace one day.
And the public statement would simply cite a sudden illness.
What made Helena think she could survive that?
Sebastian noticed the shift.
He lowered his gaze, expertly concealing his own displeasure.
His voice remained straightforward. "Regardless of Riverton's traditions, I will take care of Hope's aftermath. I won't let her become Medical Waste."
Prematurely lost fetuses were just Medical Waste.
It was brutal, but it was the harsh reality.
Those words finally brought a ripple of emotion to Helena's face.
"But if you don't come back with me right now, you won't even be able to take her ashes. After all, this is Riverton."
He was openly threatening her.
But everything he said was an undeniable fact.
As long as they were in Riverton, Helena was as insignificant as an ant; she couldn't possibly fight him.
She would be completely at his mercy.
And in the face of his aggressive coercion, Helena's quiet endurance finally shattered.
Perhaps it was because he had used Hope as a weapon.
