The assistant was slightly bewildered by the question.
But knowing Janetta's severe paranoia, she understood that even seeing things with her own eyes wasn't enough to quell her boss's need for absolute certainty.
Janetta nodded, saying nothing more.
She knew that an infant only a dozen days old couldn't possibly survive after medical treatment had been withdrawn.
She forced down the lingering sense of unease gnawing at her chest.
On the surface, her composure returned.
But Janetta knew her real anxiety stemmed from Sebastian's attitude.
Compared to his unwavering resolve at the beginning, he had become incredibly hard to read.
When it came to Helena, it was as if he were losing control.
Under these circumstances, Janetta knew better than to push him too hard.
"Ms. Ramirez, Mr. Hayes is here," the assistant murmured, glancing toward the door.
Janetta instantly smoothed over her expression, walking out with an effortless, serene grace.
Sebastian was waiting.
"I'll take you home," he said flatly.
"Alright," Janetta smiled.
She then reached out, naturally slipping her arm through his.
Sebastian's brow furrowed slightly. His lips parted as if to object, but ultimately, he swallowed the rejection.
The two of them walked quietly out of the hospital.
The moment they stepped through the sliding doors, Sebastian noticed the swarm of reporters waiting outside.
He scowled, shooting Janetta a dark look.
She blinked up at him with wide, innocent eyes. "I'm so sorry, this is my fault. I've been cooped up in the hospital for so long that I've lost touch with how the industry works. I only had my assistant announce my discharge. I completely forgot the press would swarm like this and cause you trouble."
Throughout her apology, she looked completely helpless.
This was Janetta's greatest talent.
She could orchestrate a scene intentionally, yet spin it so perfectly that it seemed like an innocent mistake.
It made it impossible to reprimand her without looking like a bully.
Sebastian's gaze darkened, but he kept his silence.
