Trapped, she stood frozen, staring at Helena.
"As for the lead role, the director and producer reviewed all the auditions and decided to cast Ms. Kaplan. The script mostly revolves around her middle-aged years, so the younger scenes are quite limited. We've cast a newer actress for those flashbacks, which only make up about ten minutes of screen time. But the role of Cassandra is a central thread throughout the entire movie."
Helena explained with incredible patience, "In my opinion, your age, experience, and acting skills make you the perfect fit for Cassandra. If you pull it off, it's a win-win for everyone."
She paused and offered a faint smile. "Of course, if you really aren't interested, we won't force you. We just want what's best for the film. I'm the primary investor. I want a box-office hit, don't I?"
Her logic was bulletproof.
And she was laying it out reasonably in front of a room full of industry peers.
If Janetta walked away now, she would look like an arrogant diva throwing a tantrum.
That kind of reputation would be professional suicide.
Janetta knew she was completely cornered.
Helena raised an eyebrow, maintaining her poised demeanor. "Besides, Mr. Hayes already reached out to me regarding this."
She let the sentence trail off perfectly.
Janetta's face paled as whispers erupted among the other actors.
This confirmed that she had only secured a role because of Sebastian's influence, not her own talent.
The implication hit her like a freight train.
If she rejected the part, she wasn't just snubbing the production team; she was throwing Sebastian's favor back in his face.
Getting him to stick his neck out for her again would be next to impossible.
What she couldn't understand was why Sebastian had spoken to Helena about it.
Weren't they just business partners?
Why would he ask her for this kind of favor?
