That single sentence silenced Julian entirely.
He didn't utter a word.
Deep down, he knew the truth: he simply didn't want her returning to Riverton.
Because Sebastian Hayes was in Riverton.
"Do you really have to go?" he finally asked.
Helena hummed in agreement. "I think I need to watch her empire burn in person before I can ever truly find peace. Besides, Skye is still recovering in the hospital. If I'm not here, you're the only one who can manage her."
Her tone was completely level, stating cold, hard facts.
A sick Skye was notoriously difficult to deal with; she would only listen to Helena or Julian.
Outsiders couldn't soothe her at all.
If the little girl got triggered again in their absence, neither of them could bear the devastating consequences.
"Stay in Coralia and watch over her for me. If you aren't here with her, I'll be worried sick," Helena reasoned gently.
"Lena, you..." Julian clenched his fists, struggling with his emotions.
"I'll be fine. Every action has a consequence, and this cycle of karma has to end. Besides, the person who tied the knot must be the one to untie it, right?" she finished smoothly.
Julian had nothing left to say.
It felt like every profound conversation he had with her ultimately backed him into a corner he couldn't escape.
Helena didn't force him to agree out loud.
She quietly turned on her heel, walked out to the Riverton officers, and said, "Sorry for the wait."
She signed the final transfer documents for the Coralia precinct, then obediently followed the Riverton police out of the building.
The corporate war between IGM and The Hayes Corporation had been dominating headlines for days.
Naturally, a small army of reporters was camped outside the IGM lobby, waiting to ambush her.
The moment they saw her being escorted out by the authorities, camera flashes erupted like lightning.
"Helena, are you really Sebastian Hayes's ex-wife?!"
"Did you fake your own death five years ago to escape prison time?!"
"Is IGM just a weapon you built to destroy him?!"
...
The press was absolutely ruthless, hurling accusations at her.
