It was completely out of anyone's control.
But the fact remained that Helena was currently stranded.
"It's fine. We'll just grab a taxi," she said simply.
The assistant nodded in relief.
They turned and headed toward the main exit.
But the very second Helena stepped through the sliding doors, she froze.
Standing a short distance away, exuding a quiet, commanding presence, was Sebastian.
He stood with one hand casually tucked into his pocket, his dark gaze locked directly onto her.
Helena's mind went blank, stealing the breath from her lungs.
Her assistant spotted him a second later and stumbled over his words. "What is Mr. Hayes doing here?"
Helena kept her expression perfectly composed.
Sebastian was already walking toward her. "Where are you staying?"
As he closed the distance, her brow furrowed in irritation, but she quickly masked it with a polite, unaffected smile.
"Since you obviously know my exact flight schedule, Mr. Hayes, I find it hard to believe you don't know my hotel," she replied, her tone dripping with polite sarcasm.
Sebastian offered a faint, unapologetic smile, completely ignoring the jab.
"I'll drive you to your hotel," he stated flatly.
He hadn't left her any room to maneuver.
They were officially business partners now.
She couldn't afford to cause a scene or look unprofessional, which meant she couldn't flat-out reject him without a legitimate excuse.
"My assistant is with me," she said coolly, offering up the shield.
"He can come too," Sebastian countered without missing a beat.
Well, that trapped her perfectly.
She gave a stiff nod. "Then I suppose I shouldn't refuse."
"Good," he murmured.
The assistant didn't dare breathe a word, silently trailing behind them like a ghost.
The invisible, electric tension radiating between the two executives was terrifying enough to make the assistant break into a cold sweat.
When they finally reached the parking garage, reality set in.
Sebastian led them straight to a sleek, understated private SUV, not a corporate town car.
Which meant Sebastian was the one driving.
