Taking her first bite, Helena was legitimately stunned.
He was actually an incredibly competent cook.
"Kyle has a weak stomach, and he's incredibly picky. Since he spends most of his time with me, I eventually just started cooking for him. Practice makes perfect," he explained, completely unprompted.
It was almost as if he had read the shock right off her face.
She looked up. "What about the maids?"
"When I'm home, he refuses to eat anyone else's food," he offered a faint smirk.
She nodded in understanding.
Talk about karma. The tyrant was finally tamed by a picky eater.
This was the same billionaire who used to refuse to even set foot in the kitchen.
Even during his college years abroad, he had lived on personal chefs and five-star takeout.
Actually making his own food was an anomaly.
But she didn't interrogate him on the change.
"I love my daddy!" Kyle giggled proudly.
She beamed down at the boy.
He tilted his head, staring up at her with starry eyes. "And I really love you too, Auntie."
"I like you too, buddy," she played along smoothly.
That sent him into a fit of ecstatic giggles.
Sebastian sat back and watched the exchange, a shadow crossing his gaze, but he remained quiet.
He made no move to interrupt their lively banter.
The conversation circled back to Skye. She happily indulged him, recounting endless funny stories about her daughter's antics.
They talked nonstop through the entire meal.
It wasn't until Kyle let out a massive, jaw-cracking yawn that they finally paused.
Knowing he was running on fumes, she gently nudged him to get ready for bed.
He didn't throw a tantrum, but he utterly refused to let go of her hand.
"Do you want me to tuck you in?" she offered softly.
"Yes, please," he nodded, practically melting with satisfaction.
She led him to the guest suite and stayed by his side for a bit.
He was completely out like a light within minutes. Carefully tucking the duvet around him, she slipped out of the room.
Closing the door, she found Sebastian loitering in the hallway.
She didn't linger, spinning on her heel to walk back toward the master suite.
But the moment she turned away, his fingers snapped around her wrist like a vice.
Frowning, she shot him a sharp glare, pure repulsion flashing in her eyes.
It was gone in a fraction of a second.
But he saw it.
"Was there something else?" she demanded icily. "Because this is highly inappropriate."
He didn't speak. He just stared at her.
With calculated precision, she wrenched her wrist free from his grasp.
He didn't try to stop her.
Just as she turned to leave again, he suddenly reached out, his thumb swiping across the corner of her lips.
She jerked back with a scowl. "Sebastian?"
She dropped the professional title, raw warning coating his name.
Instead of getting angry, he merely held her furious gaze.
"You missed a spot," he murmured, his voice dropping an octave.
