Having said her piece, Helena shrugged.
Every word she spoke was perfectly logical.
Sebastian just watched her, refusing to answer right away.
But his gaze turned somber.
Helena wasn't naive enough to think he would actually tell her everything.
These secrets weren't an urgent matter for her, anyway.
She would find out sooner or later.
So, she didn't push him.
Their eyes locked in the silent room, and Helena didn't look away.
Suddenly, Sebastian leaned in.
She instinctively stepped back.
But his hand had already clamped down on her jaw, effectively trapping her in place.
"Sebastian—" she frowned.
Before she could finish, his mouth crashed down on hers.
There was no way for her to fight him off, so she had no choice but to let him kiss her.
Whether it was because of his earlier struggle with Janetta or something else entirely, she couldn't tell.
But right now, Helena could smell the overpowering scent of perfume clinging to his clothes.
It was exactly the kind of fragrance Janetta favored.
A subconscious wave of disgust washed over her.
It was a deep, visceral rejection.
Unable to help herself, she shifted in his grasp.
Surprisingly, Sebastian actually let her go.
Before she even had time to process what was happening,
she noticed his gaze was fixated on her ear.
It was as if he were staring intensely at something specific.
Helena furrowed her brow. "What are you looking at?"
Sebastian finally tore his eyes away from the side of her face.
During the kiss, he had suddenly noticed a distinct mark tucked behind her ear.
Only then did his voice ring out with chilling composure. "What's going on behind your ear? Why is there a scar?"
He asked the question bluntly, keeping his eyes locked on her the entire time, unblinking.
Hearing this, everything instantly clicked into place for her.
He was asking about her post-surgery scar.
She hadn't expected him to be so observant and catch such a tiny detail.
Maintaining her calm exterior, she continued to smile at him.
"You mean this scar?" She reached up and touched the mark.
"Yeah," he replied, showing no rush.
"Oh, I took a bad fall years ago and cut up my face. I had to get plastic surgery to reconstruct it, and they left the incision right here," she explained, mixing truth with lies.
Sebastian offered a low hum in response, still staring at her in silence.
Then, his long, elegant fingers reached out to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
His eerie silence was starting to make her nervous.
She had no idea what kind of secret he thought he had just uncovered.
"Do you know who Julian Campbell is in love with?" he suddenly asked.
