Helena looked down at the little girl. "What's wrong?"
Skye pouted, nodding in Sebastian's direction. "Lena, how do you know him?"
Skye had met Sebastian before; she obviously knew who he was.
But she didn't understand the dynamic between him and Helena.
They had shown up together and seemed quite close.
But wasn't Helena married to Julian?
Skye was just a kid; she couldn't wrap her head around these messy adult relationships.
Before Helena could come up with an answer, Sebastian finished up the paperwork and walked over.
"All done," he said.
"Thanks for your help, Mr. Hayes," Helena replied smoothly. "I'll take Skye back to the hotel."
She did have a hotel room booked in Riverton, after all.
She simply hadn't stayed there because of the sudden entanglement with Sebastian.
Now that Skye was here, it gave Helena the perfect, completely logical excuse to escape his grasp.
Tormenting Sebastian was one thing, but Helena had no intention of actually throwing herself into the fire.
She was, admittedly, still a little afraid of getting burned.
But Sebastian just stared at her in silence.
His response was absolute and uncompromising. "Cancel the hotel. Bring Skye to my place. You're both staying with me."
It was an order that left absolutely no room for negotiation.
Helena stared at him, caught entirely off guard.
Sebastian's gaze didn't waver; it remained unnervingly calm.
But that calm demeanor was a blatant reminder that he held all the power here, not her.
Helena bit her tongue.
Meanwhile, Skye, having not received an answer to her previous question, tugged on Helena's sleeve again.
