Skye practically skipped down the hall, holding Sebastian's hand as they headed back to the dining room.
By the time Helena emerged, Skye had polished off her entire breakfast.
The little girl was now sprawled out in the living room, surrounded by her new loot.
Helena took one look at the sheer volume of boxes and frowned.
The amount of toys was genuinely absurd.
"Mr. Hayes, tell me how much all this cost. I'll transfer the money to your account," Helena said coolly, not meeting his eyes.
Sebastian gave her a thoroughly unimpressed look and ignored the ridiculous offer completely.
Instead, he stepped into her personal space and casually leaned down, pressing a firm kiss to her lips.
It was remarkably seamless.
But Skye was sitting right there in the living room.
It felt incredibly illicit, like they were having a scandalous affair right under the child's nose.
Helena reeled back, staring at him in sheer disbelief.
Sebastian acted as if he hadn't just done something completely outrageous. "Go eat," he ordered smoothly.
Helena didn't say a word, hastily retreating to the dining room.
Sebastian followed, keeping her company while she ate.
He didn't make a move to leave until she had finished her plate.
"I'll drive you two over," he stated evenly. "And I'll pick you up later."
Helena shot him a withering look. "Mr. Hayes, have you forgotten that your wife is also on set? Do you really want to show up to pick me up? Are you trying to start a full-blown scandal?"
"Does that bother you?" Sebastian countered smoothly.
"I value my life," Helena deadpanned with a humorless smile.
The implication was a flat-out rejection.
"Playing along with your little game doesn't mean I'm willing to risk getting killed over it," she added bluntly.
Sebastian merely watched her, saying nothing.
Suddenly, he invaded her space again. Helena held her ground, staring right back at him.
"You never did tell me... what exactly is this personal vendetta you have against my wife?" he asked, his tone deceptively casual.
Sebastian's eyes darkened fractionally. "Janetta is spoiled, yes. But she isn't capable of murder."
"Clearly, you still love her," Helena noted, her tone unreadable.
Looking at her indifferent expression, a sudden realization struck Sebastian.
"So, the only reason you're sleeping with me is to piss off Janetta?" he deduced evenly.
Helena raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her lips. "Weren't you the one who aggressively pursued me? When did this become my master plan?"
Sebastian locked eyes with her.
Helena didn't flinch.
This was a dangerous, high-stakes psychological war, and she knew it better than anyone.
Without warning, Sebastian's hand gripped her waist, violently yanking her flush against his chest.
Before she could even gasp, his mouth crashed down on hers, swallowing her surprised cry in a brutal, bruising kiss.
Helena's eyes went wide as she was forced to endure his punishing, predatory kiss.
