Charlotte nodded, not overthinking the comment.
The two women resumed their discussion, hammering out the remaining details.
Whether from boredom or pure exhaustion, Skye eventually drifted off.
By the time Helena looked over, the little girl was fast asleep on the sofa.
Smiling fondly, Helena walked over and gently draped a soft blanket over her.
Right at that moment, Charlotte let out a sharp gasp, immediately clapping a hand over her mouth.
She was clearly terrified of waking the child.
Helena turned to look at her.
Charlotte wordlessly handed over her phone.
Helena glanced down at The Gossip App glowing on the screen.
Her expression instantly hardened.
Splashed across the front page were photos taken by the local Riverton paparazzi.
They featured Sebastian carrying Skye, the little girl resting peacefully against his shoulder.
While the angle did not show the child's full face...
...compared to past photos of Sebastian holding Kyle Hayes...
...Skye's delicate side profile was alarmingly clear.
Soft, sweet, and undeniably present.
"Sebastian's Suspected Love Child Sparks Marital Crisis!" the headline screamed in bold letters.
"Helena, this..." Charlotte rubbed her temples, already sensing the incoming migraine.
"It's fine. I will handle it," Helena replied, her voice eerily calm.
She scrolled down to skim the comments section.
The initial reactions were somewhat tame.
But the ones upvoted to the top quickly took a toxic turn.
A vicious mob was tearing into Skye.
It went far beyond basic insults; there were vile verbal attacks and even death wishes aimed at an innocent child.
One glance was all it took for Helena to recognize the handiwork of Janetta's rabid fanbase.
She scoffed coldly, completely unfazed.
"Helena?" Charlotte blinked in surprise at her reaction.
Helena was actively typing a reply, meaning she was about to engage the trolls head-on.
"It's not worth it. These are definitely Janetta's hired trolls. If you clash with them directly, it's basically admitting you have a connection to the kid. It's going to turn into a messy PR nightmare," Charlotte warned, ever the cautious professional.
Just as Helena prepared to post her reply, the office door violently burst open.
A deafening crash echoed through the room.
Helena's brow furrowed instantly as her eyes darted toward the sofa.
The explosive noise jolted Skye violently awake.
Being startled from her sleep always sent the little girl into a terrified panic, and the tears immediately followed.
Due to her fragile health, she had grown up completely lacking a sense of security.
Helena abandoned her phone and sprinted toward her. "Skye, I'm right here. Don't be scared."
She scooped the trembling child into a protective embrace.
Skye continued to sob.
However, enveloped in that familiar, comforting scent, her tears slowly began to subside.
"It's okay, I've got you," Helena murmured, her voice a soothing balm.
Skye gave a teary hiccup and nodded. "I'm not scared."
"Helena!" Janetta shrieked, her voice completely unhinged.
She had stormed into the room like a hurricane, ignoring everyone else as she made a beeline straight for Helena.
