Julian didn't press the issue further.
"I'll give you three days to handle everything," he said calmly.
Three days to sever her ties with Sebastian.
It was a generous buffer to get her affairs in order.
"Okay," Helena agreed.
Julian fell silent once again.
However, instead of returning to his own room, he headed straight for the master bedroom.
Whether out of habit or sheer resignation, Helena remained quiet.
Soon, the sound of running water echoed through the door.
Julian was taking a shower.
She didn't follow him in.
Glancing down at her phone, she saw Sebastian's missed calls still glaring on the screen.
Several new WhatsApp messages popped up, all from him.
Helena didn't bother reading them. Instead, she dialed his number.
They had to have this conversation sooner or later.
She might as well make things crystal clear right now.
The call connected in less than three seconds.
Clearly, Sebastian had been waiting by the phone.
"Where are you?" he demanded.
"At home," Helena replied softly.
He paused, pointedly not asking which home she meant.
"Don't worry about the scandal," he said, his tone measured. "The more you try to suppress it, the more people will believe it. Just leave it alone, and the public will lose interest in a few days. Of course, if it bothers you, I can have Carter Miles scrub it."
He was perfectly diplomatic, laying out all the options and seemingly handing her the power to choose.
Helena didn't answer immediately.
She seemed lost in thought.
Her silence put him on edge, making her impossible to read.
"Goodbye," Helena murmured, moving to end the call.
"Did Julian force you?" Sebastian finally spoke up. "Or was it The Campbell Family?"
"Sebastian, it's just not right—personally, professionally, or morally," she replied succinctly.
He didn't say another word.
With nothing left to discuss, Helena hung up.
This time, he didn't call back.
Staring at his contact information on her screen, a wave of calm washed over her.
She hit delete.
Just like when she had walked away years ago, there was zero hesitation.
She knew that any lingering sentiment would only destroy her in the end.
She couldn't afford to take that gamble.
Once that was handled, she sent a message to Charlotte Morgan.
Helena: [Here is the criminal evidence against Janetta. Stick to the original plan and leak it strategically step by step. Draw attention to what happened back then, but keep my identity and The Campbell Family completely out of it.]
