He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 736

Slowly, she forced herself to calm down.

Tethered to the IV, there was nowhere she could go anyway.

She leaned back against the pillows, straining her ears to catch any noise from the main ward.

The minutes ticked by agonizingly slow, and outside the window, the sky began to lighten with the pale gray of dawn.

She glanced at the clock. It was 6:20 AM.

Then, she heard movement.

The door to the resting room clicked open.

Her eyes darted to the entrance as Sebastian strolled in, radiating effortless authority.

He was carrying several takeout bags.

"Awake already?" he asked casually.

She didn't answer.

"Good timing. Eat something. The doctor said you need food in your system, or those stomach spasms will just keep coming back," he continued, ignoring her silence.

He cast a quick glance toward the main ward; Skye was still sound asleep.

But the little girl usually woke up around seven.

He carefully transferred Skye's portion into a thermal container to keep it warm.

Then, he efficiently laid out Helena's breakfast in front of her.

"Eat," he ordered.

She stared down at the food, her mind elsewhere. "You mentioned Professor Xander..."

"Helena. Eat," he repeated, his tone shifting from a suggestion to a hard command.

Reluctantly, she picked up her utensils.

It was pork congee.

Her favorite.

But she despised ginger and scallions, so she meticulously began picking them out, placing them to the side of her bowl.

He watched her in silence, his expression unreadable.

Every instinct in her body screamed that he was on the phone with Professor Xander.

But she was smart enough to keep her mouth shut.

"Carter sent over your daughter's old records. That file was expertly tampered with to cover a fatal surgical error. The person who altered it was highly skilled; an ordinary doctor would never have spotted the manipulation. But I'm not ordinary," Solomon stated bluntly.

"If it wasn't a catastrophic mistake, then it was attempted murder. Whoever held the scalpel had zero intention of letting your daughter walk off that table alive."

"And as for this Skye Campbell file—including the supplementary emails her team sent over—I've reviewed them all. The doctors did an incredibly thorough retrospective analysis of her first surgery."

Solomon paused for a fraction of a second before delivering the killing blow.

"The surgical approach and the specific style of the wounds are exactly the same as your daughter's. Add in the identical age factor... Either these two kids share a connection, or they both had the misfortune of crossing paths with the exact same deranged butcher."

Sebastian's eyes darkened dangerously. He shifted his gaze to lock onto Helena.

But outwardly, he maintained his icy composure. "How can you be so sure?"

"Sebastian, I'm a surgeon. Don't insult me. Every doctor has a unique signature when it comes to suturing and wound management. It's distinct."

"The suturing technique in Skye's report matches your daughter's autopsy report perfectly," Solomon concluded, his words leaving no room for argument.
