Sebastian watched, his demeanor as composed as ever.
Just then, Skye's voice echoed from outside. "Helena! Helena, where are you?"
She sounded on the verge of tears.
Helena reacted instantly. "I'm right here, sweetie. Don't cry."
With that, she rushed over to Skye.
Sebastian took in the entire scene.
Anyone witnessing this would never deny the bond between Skye and Helena, he mused.
For a fleeting moment, the absurd theory taking root in his mind became strikingly undeniable.
He stood rooted to the spot.
Helena had already reached Skye, gently coaxing her.
"I'm right here, don't be scared," Helena murmured, her hand naturally resting on Skye's forehead. "Good, your fever broke. We'll have the doctor check on you in a minute."
Skye was always clingy when sick, holding onto Helena for dear life.
Helena let the little girl cling to her without a hint of impatience.
"Helena, I'm so hungry," Skye whined softly.
Before Helena could reply, Skye noticed Sebastian walking over with breakfast.
He had bought her a simple bowl of oatmeal, along with some bacon and eggs that kids usually loved.
Skye blinked. "Sebastian, is that for me?"
"It is," Sebastian replied. "You need to eat to get your strength back, so you can get well soon, right?"
Skye nodded obediently.
Helena watched, suddenly feeling like a bystander.
Suddenly, Sebastian had taken over the role of comforting the little girl.
And Skye was incredibly well-behaved around him.
Even while sick, she didn't fuss over her food, eating quietly.
Helena watched the interaction unfold, remaining completely silent.
She didn't speak until Skye finished her meal and looked up at Sebastian with a bright smile.
"Sebastian, I'm all done." Skye eagerly held up her empty bowl to show him.
"Great job," Sebastian praised without hesitation.
Sebastian stood by his car, making no move to stop them.
He wasn't in a rush.
He knew Helena would seek him out on her own.
Only after Helena and Skye stepped into their elevator did Sebastian leisurely walk toward his own.
Back in his apartment, Sebastian tossed his suit jacket casually over the back of the sofa.
He undid a few buttons on his dress shirt and rolled up his sleeves.
Then, he dialed Dr. Solomon Lynch once more.
"Man, do you have any idea what time it is?" Solomon groaned, his tone irritable.
"It's ten forty in the morning," Sebastian replied matter-of-factly.
Solomon rolled his eyes. "It's four forty in the morning in Paris. Have some mercy, will you?"
He had only managed to fall asleep at three, only to be yanked awake by Sebastian's call less than two hours later.
It was enough to drive anyone insane.
"I need you to do something for me," Sebastian cut straight to the chase.
