Pushed into a corner with absolutely no other options, Helena caved.
She was forced to text Sebastian.
Helena: [Mr. Hayes, which restaurant did you buy Skye's congee from yesterday?]
Her tone was coldly polite, deliberately using formal titles.
It was her way of maintaining a strict boundary between them.
Even though they had already crossed every imaginable line in the past.
After hitting send, she stared intensely at her screen, waiting.
But Sebastian never replied.
To say she wasn't panicking would be a lie.
But she wasn't stupid.
He was forcing her to come to him.
When he had offered her an easy way out before, she had rejected it.
If she sought him out now, she would be the one at his mercy, not the other way around.
After a tense moment of silence, she swallowed her pride and called him.
But the phone just rang and rang. He didn't answer.
Helena's brow furrowed tightly.
So, even reaching out on her own wasn't enough.
She must actively appear before him, was that it?
She wasn't entirely surprised. It was exactly the kind of manipulative game he loved to play.
Realizing this, a cold wave of clarity washed over her.
Beside her, Skye groggily opened her eyes again, remaining perfectly quiet.
The little girl rubbed her stomach, looking utterly miserable.
She was starving.
She just stared at Helena with those massive, pleading eyes, not saying a word.
Helena knew exactly what that look meant.
She sighed. "Sebastian bought yesterday's food. I'll go ask him which restaurant it was from."
Skye nodded. "Are you going to call him?"
"I might have to go over there," Helena admitted, seeing no point in lying.
"Is that right?" Sebastian chuckled.
He carried her straight into the apartment, completely ignoring Helena at the door.
Staring at his broad back, Helena couldn't help but curse his hypocrisy in her head.
He knew exactly why she was here, yet he still made her jump through these ridiculous hoops.
But she kept her mouth shut, terrified of falling into another one of his traps.
After all, she was the one begging for a favor right now.
Whether it was for the food or for Skye's surgery.
He held all the cards.
What else could she do but submit?
Defeated, she stepped inside, meticulously keeping a safe distance from him.
Only after Sebastian set Skye down did he finally turn to look at her.
"Not coming in?" he asked, feigning ignorance.
Helena cut straight to the chase. "No need. If you just tell me the name of the restaurant, I'll order it myself."
