He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 748

It was just food. There was no need to linger in his apartment for that.

Just being inside made her feel like prey in a trap.

But Sebastian remained silent, his intense gaze locking onto her.

At some point, the apartment had been filled with a mountain of expensive toys.

Skye was instantly captivated.

She busied herself with the toys in the living room, completely oblivious to the dangerous undercurrent between the two adults.

With Sebastian staring at her like that, the pressure was suffocating.

It was the predatory gaze of a hunter, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.

Her lips parted, ready to fire back a sharp retort.

But before she could, his cold, indifferent voice sliced through the tension.

"Helena, I made that congee yesterday. So, where exactly do you plan on buying it?" he asked smoothly.

Helena was stunned into absolute silence.

It had never even crossed her mind that he had cooked it himself.

When did he even have the time?

"The VIP wards have private resting rooms equipped with small kitchens. The ingredients aren't very complicated," he explained unprompted.

Helena had absolutely nothing to say to that.

Her leverage had completely vanished.

She stood frozen in place, utterly helpless.

She couldn't leave, and she couldn't stay.

Ignoring her internal panic, Sebastian casually strolled over to where Skye was playing.

"Skye, you keep playing here while I go cook it for you, okay?" he offered in a gentle, coaxing tone.

"Okay!" she chirped obediently.

Then, she looked up at Helena. "Lena, aren't you going to come in and sit down?"

Helena knew exactly what he was doing; he was forcing her to make the choice herself.

But it was a false choice. She didn't actually have an option.

Knowing him as well as she did, she recognized this as his signature move when victory was already guaranteed.

She gave up fighting.

Because Skye was here, she had no choice but to stay.

Sebastian's gaze shifted to the living room, landing on her slumped form against the sofa.

He stood quietly for a moment.

"I'll serve your food, and you can blow on it to cool it down. Once I'm done, I'll carry her to the bedroom so she can rest properly, okay?" he asked softly.

"If she sleeps out here, she'll catch a cold. And if I wake her up, she probably won't be able to get back to sleep," he reasoned, displaying an almost meticulous level of care.

Skye nodded in earnest agreement. "Okay."

He plated the food and set it perfectly in front of her.

As she quietly ate at the dining table, he finally strode out to the living room.

Helena hadn't moved an inch.

She was entirely under.

But even in her heavily medicated state, the second he slid his arms under her and lifted her up...

He could instantly feel her muscles tense in subconscious resistance.

He didn't utter a word.

He simply stared down at her face, his gaze turning somber and dark.
