He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 751

They chatted as they walked.

Skye Campbell quickly realized that Sebastian Hayes was a walking encyclopedia; no matter what she asked, he had an answer.

"Sebastian, I just realized you know a lot of things, just like Julian," Skye said, bringing up Julian Campbell.

Sebastian offered a soft hum of agreement. "Study hard, and you'll know just as much when you grow up."

"Okay. But Julian said I only have to study if I want to, and if I don't, I can just coast through life," Skye hummed playfully.

Sebastian looked down and chuckled.

It was true; the young Miss of the Campbell family never had to worry about a thing.

Still chatting, the two soon arrived at the fried chicken restaurant.

Sebastian ordered the fried chicken for her.

However, he made sure to control her portions.

"Don't eat too much, alright?" he reminded her in a low voice.

"I know, I know," Skye replied, already thoroughly satisfied.

They took a discreet, low-profile booth by the window.

Skye ate happily.

Wearing little plastic gloves, she gripped a drumstick, her eyes curving into bright crescents.

"Aren't you gonna eat?" she asked Sebastian, her voice muffled around a mouthful of food.

Sebastian shook his head. "You go ahead."

Skye shrugged it off and kept eating.

The meal didn't take long.

Sebastian kept his head down, checking his phone, but the screen remained quiet.

Aside from a few work-related texts from Carter Miles, there were no new messages.

Not a single phone call, either.

He lowered his gaze, remaining silent.

Did this mean Helena Wallace still wasn't awake?

Logically, the moment she realized Skye was missing, she would have contacted him immediately.

"Sebastian, are you waiting for Helena to call? She definitely isn't up yet. Once she is, she'll come looking for me," Skye pointed out with sharp intuition.

Sebastian offered a faint hum, not bothering to deny it. "Does she always sleep this late?"

"Not exactly," Skye said thoughtfully. "She has insomnia. If she doesn't get enough sleep at night, she'll probably just sleep through the whole day, but I'm not entirely sure about the details."

Sebastian listened carefully but didn't say a word.

They wouldn't dare expose her recklessly.

Sebastian wasn't worried about that in the slightest.

However, when he brought Skye back to his apartment, Helena was somehow still asleep.

Sebastian lowered his gaze, his expression growing even more unreadable.

Quietly, he laid Skye down in the guest room.

The little girl showed no signs of waking up; she was completely knocked out for naptime.

Sebastian tucked the blankets around her before stepping out and heading to the master bedroom.

Sure enough, Helena was still dead to the world.

Sebastian spared her a glance, then calmly changed into his loungewear.

Without a shred of hesitation, he got back into bed to join her.

Sebastian didn't actually have a habit of taking afternoon naps.

Yet, for some inexplicable reason, a wave of exhaustion washed over him.

His large hand naturally pulled Helena into his embrace.

She shifted and struggled subconsciously for a moment, but remained fast asleep.
