He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 762

Helena knew Skye was just terrified of upsetting her further.

She let out a silent, weary sigh as they stepped into the apartment.

Susan hadn't returned yet.

Helena focused entirely on Skye, helping her bathe and tucking her into bed.

She stayed by her side until the little girl's breathing evened out before finally slipping out of the room.

Just as the door clicked shut, her phone vibrated in her pocket.

It was Lance.

"Why are you calling so late?" she asked quietly, stepping into the living room.

"I'm at the airport," Lance's voice echoed through the speaker, accompanied by the distinct, chaotic background noise of Coralia International Airport.

"Company emergency? A business trip?" Helena frowned. "Or... did something happen to Aunt Ivy?"

Even though Helena was biologically an Everett, she only ever visited the capital during major holidays.

Because of her turbulent past, her time with the family was limited.

They weren't exactly incredibly close.

However, Aunt Ivy called her constantly.

Having her daughter back had vastly improved the older woman's mental state.

But Aunt Ivy hadn't called recently.

Hearing Lance at an airport suddenly sent a spike of anxiety straight through Helena's chest.

"Relax, Aunt Ivy is perfectly fine," Lance said bluntly. "I just landed in Coralia. Want to meet up?"

"Why are you here?" Helena asked, momentarily stunned.

But the pieces quickly fell into place.

Julian must have sent him.

"Julian is worried sick about you, so he asked me to fly down. Honestly, I couldn't just sit around either," Lance admitted, offering no sugar-coated excuses.

Helena's lips parted, but no words came out.

"Where are you? I'll come to you," she finally murmured.

"It's too late tonight. I'm checked into a hotel near your place. We'll meet tomorrow. Get some sleep," Lance instructed gently.

Staring at the darkened screen of her phone, Helena felt a crushing silence settle over the apartment.

She glanced at the clock; it was already past eleven.

Yet, her mind was racing, completely devoid of sleep.

Maybe she had rested too much during the day, or maybe the crushing weight of her reality was simply too much to bear.

It was a vicious, exhausting cycle.

She sat on the couch, mute and motionless.

Sebastian didn't call or text her.

He had handed her the ultimate ultimatum and was now sitting back, letting the psychological pressure do his dirty work.

Helena tossed and turned in the dark, her eyes wide open until dawn.

The next morning.

Skye was bouncing off the walls, demanding to go back to school.

After a quick consultation with her doctor—who confirmed that as long as there was no fever, staying cooped up would actually be worse for her—Helena finally relented.
