He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 89

"Susan is upstairs running a high fever. I have to drop off this medicine and make sure she's okay," Helena refused flatly. "She took care of me for a month. I'm not going to just abandon her."

His expression remained stoic and utterly ruthless. "Come back with me."

There was no room for negotiation in his tone.

If she wouldn't come willingly, he would drag her into the car.

Helena just looked at him, completely unfazed. "Sebastian, I hold the cards right now, not you. You went through all this trouble because you desperately need me to bring the baby back safely. Don't push me, or you'll ruin your own plans."

Her voice was terrifyingly calm.

Sebastian's expression turned glacial. His grip on her arm tightened painfully. "Are you threatening me?"

"Yes." The pain radiated through her arm, but she refused to back down.

"Who gave you the nerve to threaten me?" he demanded, his voice dropping to a lethal whisper.

She ignored him.

Clutching the plastic bag of medicine, she forcefully wrenched her arm free from his grasp.

Without missing a beat, she turned and headed straight toward the apartment compound.

She was genuinely worried about Susan.

Staring at his empty hand, Sebastian's jaw clenched. Ultimately, he followed her inside.

It was a military compound, after all; causing a massive scene here wouldn't end well for him.

Helena heard his footsteps behind her, but she knew she couldn't stop him, so she didn't say a word.

They stepped into the elevator in heavy silence. She hit the button for the ninth floor.

She unlocked the door and hurried inside.

Susan was sitting up, looking slightly better after resting.

When she heard the door open, she looked over—and froze the second she saw the towering man stepping in behind Helena.

Susan began signing frantically, her eyes wide with panic. Helena offered her a reassuring smile.

She neither confirmed nor denied it.

He let out a dark, mocking laugh that sent a chill straight down her spine.

"I accounted for every variable, but I completely forgot that Lance took his mother's maiden name," he said, his voice dripping with ice.

The look in his eyes was purely sadistic.

He stepped forward, his hand snapping out to grip her jaw forcefully. A sharp ache shot through her bone, causing a cold sweat to break out across her back.

She bit her lip, refusing to beg for mercy.

He didn't let go. Every word he spoke next was a loaded gun.

"Did you honestly think I couldn't touch Lance? Is that why you thought you could test my limits?" His temper was hovering right on the edge of a violent explosion.

Helena had absolutely no doubt that he was fully capable of destroying her.

Suddenly, he released her jaw. She stumbled backward, collapsing onto the sofa.
