He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 90

In a flash, he closed the distance, looming over her.

"The Everett family runs the military sector, and Lance is their golden boy, which is exactly why he thinks he can play hero. If rumors start flying that he's having a sordid affair with a married woman, I'd love to see if he can still waltz back to his cushy tech job in New York."

He let out a low, cruel laugh. "Do you really think the Everetts are just going to sit back and watch? You think they'll let him drag their pristine reputation through the mud?"

"Sebastian, you're a bastard. He was just trying to help me!" she yelled, glaring up at him.

"I'm a bastard? He touches my wife, and you think I'm the bad guy?" he shot back.

"You—" Her chest heaved, struggling to find the words.

"Come back with me." He didn't want to waste another breath arguing about Lance.

He was genuinely afraid that if he let his temper slip any further, he might actually snap her neck.

But she didn't move. She just sat there, glaring at him with stubborn defiance.

His brows pulled together, his irritation boiling over.

His lips parted to bark another order, but before he could speak, she let out a faint, hollow laugh.

"You won't touch Lance," she said with absolute certainty. "The Everetts are untouchable. But more importantly, you care about The Hayes Corporation too much. There is no way you'd risk your company in an all-out war with them over petty jealousy."

Her voice was painfully flat, and the look she gave him was entirely devoid of warmth.

It was the look of a woman whose heart had completely died.

"And I know you think you have Wynn to use against me, right?" She stood up, pulling her shoulders back.

The mocking gleam in her eyes deepened, replaced by an unbreakable resolve.

"You don't understand me, and you clearly don't understand Wynn. He loved extreme sports. Being trapped in a hospital bed, barely clinging to life... he hates it. You have no idea what our bond is like. If I can't save him, and he passes away, he won't blame me."

She enunciated every word perfectly, refusing to break eye contact.

"But you—you absolutely need the baby in my stomach. Without it, you don't get Grandpa's shares." She drove the blade right into his most vulnerable spot, twisting it without mercy.
