Tears pricked her eyes, turning them a vibrant red as a heavy lump formed in her throat.
Her vision blurred with unshed tears, but she could still see Sebastian kneeling patiently before her, perfectly still.
"Lena," he murmured softly.
In the dead silence of the apartment, his voice rang out with crystal clarity.
She finally looked up, acknowledging him.
"During our entire marriage, I have never physically cheated on you," he stated, suddenly addressing the seven years of ambiguous rumors surrounding him and Janetta.
She froze, then let out a bitter, mocking laugh. "So Janetta's baby just miraculously fell from the sky?"
"That... was an accident," he replied tersely, offering no further explanation.
Right. An accident. Life was full of convenient little accidents, wasn't it?
Who knew what the truth was anymore?
But his confession, coupled with the crushing memory of Grandpa, left her mind in a chaotic tailspin.
She stared at him quietly. "Get up."
"Only if you agree to go to the hospital with me," he countered stubbornly.
It was a tense standoff.
She didn't reply.
But reading the vulnerability in her eyes, he knew he had already won.
His gaze shifted to the couch. The blood had begun to dry, but the stark crimson stain was still utterly horrifying.
"Lena, let's go to the hospital," he pressed, his tone dropping into a demanding, intimately possessive register.
Hearing him call her Lena like that sent her heart into overdrive.
It wasn't that she didn't want to agree; the excruciating cramps in her stomach had drained the color from her face, leaving her completely breathless.
At that exact moment, The Doctor and the medical team burst through the door.
The team froze at the bizarre scene in front of them.
A blood-soaked couch, Sebastian Hayes kneeling on the floor, and a pale, trembling woman curled up in agony.
As they barged in, she was too stunned to react.
