He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 99

After making the arrangements, Sebastian carefully escorted her downstairs.

He hovered over her the entire time, treating her as if she were made of fragile glass.

The Butler promptly served dinner, and Sebastian sat right across from her, keeping her company.

She remained silent, wrapping the meal in a heavy, stifling quiet.

But as the days dragged on, she realized with growing astonishment that he truly wasn't leaving.

He still went to the office, but he made sure to be home for all three meals.

If he was tied up with a midday meeting, he would call her personally.

When she inevitably ignored his calls, he would pass the message to The Butler to ensure she knew exactly why he was delayed.

In the evenings, they ate dinner together, and then he would accompany her for a slow walk around the estate.

To an outsider, they looked like the picture-perfect married couple.

Despite the lingering coldness between them, she slowly found herself letting her guard down.

Maybe it was just a force of habit.

Or maybe, deep down, this domestic tranquility was exactly what she had secretly craved all these years.

They drifted into a bizarre, fragile peace.

Oddly enough, Janetta seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth. There were no media leaks, no mentions of her name, and Sebastian didn't bring her up once.

He didn't even seem to take any secret phone calls.

It was so flawlessly peaceful that it felt terrifyingly surreal, like a beautiful hallucination ready to shatter at any moment.

"Ma'am, your tonic is ready," The Butler announced warmly, setting a steaming porcelain bowl in front of her.

"Thank you," she murmured.

The luxurious soup was still too hot, so she left it on the table to cool while scrolling through her tablet.

Suddenly, a breaking news notification popped up at the top of her screen, instantly freezing the blood in her veins.

Sebastian Hayes photographed arriving at Janetta Ramirez's apartment. The two share an intimate embrace.

Her finger hovered over the screen. A hollow, self-deprecating smile touched her lips.

Even in this chaotic mess, she hadn't done anything inherently malicious.

So, naturally, her heartbroken tears had completely shattered his resolve.

Without a second thought, he had dropped everything and rushed straight to her apartment.

When he walked in, it was obvious she had been crying for hours. Her eyes were puffy and red, tears streaming down her beautiful face in a picture of utter devastation.

"Seb!" she cried, throwing herself desperately into his arms. "I thought you were abandoning me."

"I would never do that," he murmured, gently rubbing her back.

She buried her face in his chest, her voice trembling with grievance. "The baby hasn't seen you in so long... he's barely been moving. I went to the doctor today, and he said the baby needs to feel his father's presence."

She used her unborn child as the ultimate emotional weapon.

She and Helena had gotten pregnant around the exact same time.

They were both roughly fourteen weeks along, neither of them showing much yet.

"Is Lena forbidding you from seeing me?" Janetta looked up at him with wide, tear-filled eyes. "I get it. She's the official Mrs. Hayes. It makes sense that she wouldn't want you anywhere near me. Plus, she's pregnant, and her baby is the key to everything you need. You finally managed to coax her back home... you have to keep her happy."
