With Stella right in the backseat, Sebastian had no intention of taking Jarrod's call. He quickly muted his phone.

Moments later, Jarrod sent a voice memo, which Sebastian transcribed to text.

[Keep an eye on Chloe when you get a chance. I don't know what kind of trouble she got herself into, but she's begging me to find her a lawyer.]

Sebastian read the message but didn't reply.

Back at the hotel, the team reviewed the day's client orders, while Stella spent some time reshooting a few outfits in various styles. Her recent videos had been trending, and she was determined to ride the wave to boost SD Apparel's brand awareness.

Once the edited video was posted, the likes and comments poured in. The comment section was flooded with people demanding release dates for the clothing line.

Seeing the incredible metrics, Stella let out a breath of relief. She rubbed her aching shoulders and headed to her room.

Fresh out of the shower and ready to crash early, the room's landline suddenly rang.

She picked it up and heard the polite voice of the concierge. "Good evening, Ms. Quinn. There is a gentleman in the lobby claiming to be your husband."

Her husband?

Stella froze. Jarrod was here?

He had been in Royal Oaks just a few hours ago when they spoke on the phone. What was he doing in Southport?

And how the hell did he know she was staying at this exact hotel?

"Ms. Quinn, are you there?" the concierge prompted.

"Oh, yes. Please pass the phone to him," Stella replied, pulling herself together.

A second later, Jarrod's deep, cold voice drifted through the receiver, edged with a trace of sheer exhaustion. "We need to talk. Am I coming up, or are you coming down?"

She had hung up on him earlier that evening, never expecting him to fly all the way to Southport just to confront her.

Stella tamped down the storm of emotions brewing inside her. "Couldn't this wait until I got back?"

"Got it. I'm coming up," Jarrod said, about to hang up.

"Wait!"
