Seraphina's fashion line had also been featured at the expo. Stella decided she would head back to the Quinn estate later that evening to have a serious discussion with George Quinn about financing the new machinery.

Stepping out of Mr. Stafford's office, she found Sebastian waiting in the hallway.

"Need something?" Stella asked.

"If you have a minute, I'd like to talk about Chloe," Sebastian replied.

Stella nodded. Sebastian had mentioned yesterday that Chloe would turn herself in, and that he would respect Stella's decision on whether or not to sign the settlement agreement.

They sat down together in a quiet corner.

Sebastian pulled down his face mask, revealing the bruised and battered state of his jaw and cheek. The deep purple contusions looked incredibly painful.

"I pressed Chloe for more details yesterday. She confessed something that I think you need to know," Sebastian started.

"What is it?" Stella asked.

Sebastian explained that Chloe had initially just wanted to cause some petty trouble for Stella, with no real master plan. But everything changed when she ran into Seraphina at the equestrian club a few days prior.

Seraphina had approached Chloe, sensed her frustration, and eagerly offered to help her vent it.

"The next day, your stepsister met up with Chloe again. She conveniently mentioned your upcoming fashion expo, 'accidentally' dropped details about SD's machinery, and even brought up the supplier The Quinn Group had recently fired."

Sebastian kept his tone steady. "I'm not trying to excuse Chloe. Smashing the machines was her decision, she hired the thugs, and she paid them. She deserves whatever punishment comes her way. But the person who handed her the blueprint and the loaded gun was likely the one you suspected all along—your stepmother."

Stella's brows knitted together in a tight scowl.
