"Summer, I'm the one you love! How could you marry someone else?!"
Lucca collapsed onto both knees. "Summer, if you hate me, hit me, scream at me. Just don't punish me like this! You know I love you. I only love you..."
Summer remained entirely unfazed. She called out to the nurses in the hall and asked them to fetch security.
Seeing that Summer truly had zero lingering affection for him, Lucca roared with bloodshot eyes, "Summer, we were together for five years! How could you just marry some stranger without a second thought?! Where does that leave me?!"
Gabriel shielded Summer, shifting her slightly behind him as he warned Lucca, "Keep your voice down. You're scaring my wife."
Hearing Gabriel's dry remark, Stella had to bite her lip to hold back a laugh.
Security rushed in, grabbed Lucca by the arms, and dragged him out. Lucca thrashed wildly, screaming Summer's name until his voice faded down the corridor and completely disappeared.
Silence finally returned to the hospital room. Gabriel gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind Summer's ear, his voice laced with tightly leashed longing. "Summer, did he scare you?"
Summer shook her head, assuring him she was fine, and quickly introduced Stella.
They chatted for a bit. Knowing Gabriel still needed to accompany Summer to meet her parents, Stella didn't keep them long.
Before they left, Stella offered a half-joking, half-serious warning. "Mr. Sinclair, you better treat Summer like a queen. Otherwise, you'll end up crying on the floor just like that guy."
Gabriel chuckled, his gaze fixed on the woman in his arms with unapologetic adoration. "I am incredibly lucky to have found Summer. I will spend my life treating her well."
Stella could see it clearly. This man loved Summer deeply—with an intense, respectful, and fully encompassing love.
She felt nothing but pure joy for her best friend.
...
A few days later, Stella and Sebastian had both fully recovered and were discharged from the hospital. Jarrod was also moved out of the ICU into a regular ward.
Stella visited Jarrod almost every day, bringing him light meals and keeping him company. Seeing his grandson recovering well, Arthur Sr.'s mood lifted, and his own health rapidly improved. With some persuading from Edward and his family, the old man moved back to the main family estate to rest.
