Martin was lying on the ground, unable to move. When he looked up, he saw Ryan advancing, the chair in his hand.
Ryan’s steps were deliberate, slow. The hotel lights cast shadows over him, making him look like a demon risen from hell.
Martin scrambled backward, but every step he took was matched by Ryan’s advance. The hotel hall doors were behind him, closed. He had nowhere to run.
“What… what are you going to do?” Martin tried to stand, but his body refused to obey. He could only bluff, “How dare you hit me? My grandmother and yours are friends. Aren’t you afraid of causing a feud between them?”
Maria and Sarah exchanged glances, then turned away. They weren’t going to feud.
Even if Ryan killed Martin tonight and got sentenced for it, their friendship wouldn’t break. No one could know how deep. their bond ran.
Ryan stopped in front of Martin, one hand in his pocket, the other gripping the chair. His expression was ice-cold, his voice even darker than before. “You dare threaten my girl?”
He didn’t give Martin a chance to respond. With a single motion he brought the chair crashing down on Martin’s legs with a thunderous crack.
Martin’s scream of agony ripped through the hall, echoing off the walls.
Ryan pulled a pack of wet wipes from his pocket and calmly wiped his hand that had just lifted the chair. Then, he casually grabbed the nearest person and asked with complete composure “Got cash?”
“What?” The man was suddenly yanked forward and nearly jumped out of his skin. He hadn’t offended Ryan, so he had no idea why this sudden fury was aimed at him.
He was so stunned that when Ryan asked about cash, he froze. When he finally registered what was happening, his eyes met Ryan’s, cold and sharp.
“I… I have…” The man immediately dug into his briefcase and pulled out 30 thousand dollars. “Is this… enough?”
These days, nobody carried much cash. This money was from a delivery he’d just collected before coming to the party, not yet deposited in the bank. But now Ryan had effectively robbed him.
What was worse, this man wasn’t a Swanson or a Foster. He was Here to attend a wedding, only to find he was in the wrong hall.
When he was about to leave, he found it was the engagement pay of Ryan, the head of the Foster family. So he decided to sit and watch out of curiosity.
He never expected Ryan to snatch his money. He felt like crying
“That’s enough.” Ryan took the cash and tossed it to Martin. “Consider this your medical bill.”
Then, he threw the wet wipe he’d used onto the floor in front of Martin. “Remember this. You can disrespect me all you want, but you do not disrespect my girlfriend. Next time, you won’t be this lucky. You’ll end up lying in the hospital.”
Vivian, who had been stunned by Ryan, finally snapped back, scaming, “Martin, are you okay?”
Then she glared at the servers standing nearby. “What are you waiting for? Get him to the hospital, now!”

Vivian stood up, furious, and stormed over to Maria. Her voice trembled with anger. “Maria, what is going on today? You need to explain this to me!
“You personally insisted Lily should get engaged to Ryan, yet now he wants to break it off and has severely injured Martin. How could you treat us like this?”
