Chapter 114
Chapter 114
With that, Nina turned to head upstairs, but a furious voice stopped her in her tracks. “Stop right there” Linda vapped
Nina paused and looked back at Linda, her face twisted with anger. “Is there something else. Aun Linda?
Linda had been holding back her anger, but now she couldn’t take it anymore. She shouted, “Nina, the Swanson farmilly doesn’t belong to you alone. How dare you? We haven’t even agreed, and you’re already making decisions by yourself bre you just ignoring us?”
“That’s right, Nina. Even if you’ve got Ryan backing you up, you can’t throw your weight around, Judy chimed in “Sardi’s birthday celebration is a huge deal. You can’t just decide everything on your own. It’s not your place to take charge of this family.”
“If Nina can’t make the decisions, can I?” Sarah glanced coolly at udy and Linda. Tve decided Nina will handle my birthday celebration. Does anyone have a problem with that?”
Sarah never intended to have a birthday celebration at first. But since Nina brought it up and wanted to do something for her, Sarah was happy to let her take charge. No matter what Nina did, Sarah would always support her without question
Judy’s face fell. “Mom, we know you play favorites, but do you have to make it so obvious? You were the one who said you didn’t want a birthday party before.
“Now that you want one, shouldn’t your sons be the ones to organize it? Nina’s just a granddaughter. If you let her run the whole thing, what will outsiders think of us?”
“That’s right, Mom,” Vivian chimed in. “Your birthday party is basically the Swanson family’s big event. Nina just came back and she hasn’t even finished school yet.
“Does she even know how any of this works? Who to invite, how to book the chef, and how to set up the program? If we let her handle it, aren’t you just handing our reputation over for outsiders to laugh at?”
Vivian listened to Lily’s advice yesterday and planned to keep a low profile around Nina for a while. So when Nina suggested throwing a birthday party for Sarah, Vivian kept her mouth shut. But in the end, she couldn’t hold back.
James was the eldest son, so no matter how much everyone else fought, the responsibility would always fall to him. James was always busy with work, so he’d definitely have to assign some of the tasks for the birthday party.
Martin hadn’t been in James’s good graces lately, and he was desperate for a chance to prove himself. If he could throw a great party, he might get back to James’s good graces. So Martin knew he had to grab this chance.
“If you guys are so devoted, why don’t you invite Nicholas to cook for Grandma’s birthday? Let’s see you actually do something impressive for once,” Ethan retorted, unable to stand them talking down to Nina.
Judy and Linda’s faces fell. “Are you kidding? Nicholas is a famous chef. It’s not like we can invite him whenever we feel like
it.”
Vivian snapped, “Shut up. Nobody asked for your opinion.”
Ethan snorted, unable to hold back his laughter. “You guys actually know you’re out of your league? I thought you were gonna throw a fancy, top-tier party and bring in Nicholas or something.” Ethan’s grin was pure mockery.
Judy’s face turned awkward. “If we can’t invite him, you think Nina could?”
“I never said Nina could get him,” Ethan leaned back in his chair looking all casual. “Even if she just gets a regular cook, my grandma would be happy.”
