Ethan scoffed, “Honestly, even if you did manage to invite Nicholas, I bet Grandma wouldn’t even care. Isn’t this supposed to be about making her happy? So tell me, is she happy right now?”

Everyone turned to look at Sarah, but she was stone-faced. They felt totally embarrassed.

Sarah shot them a cold look. When everyone finally went quiet, she said, “Nina’s handling my birthday party. If you try to take this away from her, I won’t have the party anymore.” Sarah didn’t waste another word and just walked away.

Nina was about to get some rest and ignored the rest of them, just quietly helping Sarah upstairs. As she checked Sarah’s pulse, Nina furrowed her eyebrows. Overnight, Sarah’s condition had taken a turn for the worse.

‘What kind of poison could be this strong?’ Nina thought, worry gnawing at her.

Nina paused and turned to Anna. “Help my grandma upstairs, I need to head out for a bit.”

She’d planned to visit the Foster family at noon, but there was no time to waste now. Without even catching any sleep, Nina went straight over to the Foster residence.

The Foster family’s housekeeper already knew Nina, so when she showed up, the housekeeper waved her in without even letting the family know.

The Foster family had just finished breakfast when Ryan got a call from Nina. He immediately sent someone to check out what was happening at the Swanson residence.

Even though he’d decided to give Nina her space, her tone on the phone was all wrong. Ryan wanted to know what was going on with her. He couldn’t stand seeing Nina get hurt. He was shocked when Nina showed up out of the blue.

Ryan hurried over, his face serious. “Nina, what’s going on?” Nina had said she’d come by at noon, so her showing up this early could only mean things had gotten worse.

Nina looked worn out from being up all night. “My grandma’s been poisoned, and I need to talk to Maria about it.”

Ryan’s face darkened instantly. “Poisoned? Can’t you fix it?”

Nina’s reputation as a famed Miracle Doctor wasn’t earned for nothing. Her skills were way beyond what most people could even imagine.

‘Could there really be a poison even Nina can’t cure?’ Ryan thought, utterly shocked.

“I don’t even know what kind of poison it is,” Nina said, not wanting to waste another second. “Take me to see Grandma

Maria.”

Ryan’s face was grim. “She’s out in the garden. Take a seat, I’ll bring her over.” Because this was about Nina, Ryan went to get

Maria himself.

Maria didn’t even get a chance to wash her hands before Ryan ushered her over to the couch. “Nina needs to ask you something. Please answer her questions first.”

Maria shot Ryan a glare. But when she turned to Nina, Maria’s face lit up with a warm smile. “Nina, what do you need to ask me?”

Nina stood up and greeted her warmly, “Grandma Maria.”

Maria nodded with a gentle smile. “Sit down.”

Nina didn’t beat around the bush. “Yesterday, where did you and my grandma go? What did you eat? Did you run into

anyone unusual?”

She could have just asked Sarah herself. But since she still had no clue what kind of poison it was, Nina didn’t want to stress Sarah out. For now, it was best to keep Sarah in the dark.

Maria paused, looking a bit surprised. “We went on a picnic yesterday. I brought all the food from home, and we didn’t run into anyone strange. We stuck together the whole time. As for anything we might’ve come into contact with…”

Maria paused. “Heather had just gotten a new piece of emerald, and we all handled it for a bit. But nothing happened to any of us.” Maria had no clue why Nina was asking all these questions but she still told Nina everything she knew.
