Chapter 131

But the real jackpot was those acupuncture techniques Nina shared. Those were techniques that had been lost to time, and they had spent years at the institute just trying to figure out those complicated acupuncture methods.

They couldn’t believe Nina just gave them away for nothing.

Dr. Berger and his colleagues said, “Honestly, we wanted to refuse, but these are just too valuable to us. We really can’t say no. Ms. Swanson, you have my word. If you ever need anything, just reach out. If I can help, I absolutely will.”

Nina nodded. “Alright. Things are pretty busy with the Swanson family right now, so I won’t keep you. When I’m in Betrico next, I’ll drop by and see you.”

“We’ll be looking forward to it,” they replied.

After Dr. Berger and his two colleagues left the Swanson residence, the three of them lost in thought as they looked down at the items in their hands. For a long moment, none of them spoke.

Finally, Chandler broke the silence. “Well, that was more than worth the trip.”

Dr. Berger nodded, his voice full of awe. “Yeah, the things we got from the Miracle Doctor are even more precious than Mr. Foster’s 150 million.”

Louis glanced back at the Swanson residence. “Honestly, I always figured the Miracle Doctor would be just like rumors, cold, proud, and too important to care about anyone else.

“Turns out, she’s actually super easygoing. The way she talks and handles things was so gracious and impressive. We old- timers don’t even come close.”

“You said it,” Chandler chimed in. “I’ve always thought my experience made me special, and sometimes I let it go to my head. Guess I should take a page from the Miracle Doctor and learn to stay humble from now on.”

Meanwhile, in the urban village, in Scarlet’s little courtyard.

When Ryan showed up, Simon was already surrounded by a bunch of guys in black. Every single one of them had a gun ⚫ drawn.

Ryan’s expression turned icy. In a flash, he flicked several silver needles from his hand with lightning speed, sending them flying with deadly precision. Then, in a blur, he lunged forward.

Simon’s eyes went wide when he saw Ryan. “Get out of here. They’ve got guns.”

Ryan didn’t even look his way. Moving like a shadow, he slipped right through the crowd of men in black, so fast that they didn’t even get a chance to react before he took them all out.

Ryan tossed some powder, and the whole bunch dropped like flies. In a split second, the men in black were scattered all over the ground.

Simon’s eyes went wide in disbelief as he stared at Ryan. He thought, ‘No way. Is this really the same Ryan who couldn’t even lift a finger? He’s like a whole different person!

Simon was still dazed when Ryan just walked right into Scarlet’s courtyard.

Simon snapped out of it and quickly followed after him. Seeing Rysan rummaging around the room, Simon blurted out, “What are you looking for?”

Ryan said coldly, “The basement.”

Simon stared at him. “There’s a basement here?”

He thought, ‘Wait, how did I not know about this? I’ve been here a ton of times, and Nina never told me there was a

basement.’

Not to mention, Nina herself had no idea, either. If Scarlet hadn’t called, Nina would’ve never known there was a basement in her own place.

Ryan gave him a look and kept looking around the room. Ten minutes later, he discovered a secret door hidden behind the wardrobe in Scarlet’s room. He had no key, so he had someone bust the door open.

Ryan couldn’t help but frown as he took in the sight of all sorts of weird concoctions and test tubes scattered around the basement. He always knew Scarlet was a poison expert, but he never realized she was messing around with all these formulas herself.

Just what kind of job did Scarlet take on this time?’ Ryan thought to himself. ‘Why’s she suddenly involved with all these potions?’

Ryan didn’t waste a second. He swept up all the experimental drugs and formulas from the basement, packing everything up.

Simon’s eyes sharpened as he watched Ryan carry out all those items. “These must be seriously important, or Nina wouldn’t have sent Ryan to handle it himself,’ he thought.

Simon’s face grew tense. “Let’s move. It’s not safe to stick around here.”

Overnight, Iris was dead, and all the girls from the nightclub were just gone. No doubt about that someone had definitely got their eyes on this place now.

“You drive,” Ryan ordered, and then strode out. Suddenly, he stopped dead in his tracks, glancing up at the nearby rooftop. A split second later, his expression changed dramatically. He shoved Simon out of the way and yelled, “Heads up.”
