Chapter 132
Chapter 132
“Ryan, are you okay?” Simon asked. He quickly dragged Ryan into the room, his whole body shaking. He never thought Ryan would save him. If it hadn’t been for Ryan, that bullet would’ve gone straight for his heart.
But because Ryan reacted so fast, the bullet caught his own arm instead. Normally, a wound like that wouldn’t be a big deal, but in just a few seconds, Ryan’s lips turned blue and his face went white as a sheet. He must’ve been poisoned.
Even though Nina and Ryan weren’t together anymore, he was still the one she cared about most. If Simon died, he couldn’t even imagine what Nina would do.
Ryan felt like a swarm of bugs was tearing him apart, and his thoughts were getting fuzzy. He pressed Simon’s shoulder and handed him the potions he’d grabbed from the basement. “Hide them. Look for a chance to escape.”
He’d never been some saint. But Simon was Nina’s guy, He’d go all out to keep anything about Nína safe.
With that, Ryan passed out.
“Ryan, don’t fall asleep.” Simon was freaking out, desperately trying to keep Ryan conscious, but no matter how loud he yelled, Ryan didn’t react at all.
He had to get Ryan to Nina as fast as possible. Only Nina could save him now. Simon got to his feet, warily pressing himself behind the door, every muscle tense as he listened for trouble.
He could hear a lot of footsteps coming straight for them.
The enemy had guns, and their bullets were laced with poison. Forget protecting Ryan. Simon might not even make it out alive himself. He shot a look at Ryan, and then at the potions clutched in his own hand.
‘They are here for those things. If I hand them over, maybe they’ll just go away,’ Simon thought. ‘I could die for all I care, but Ryan has to live!’
Simon paused for a moment, then hauled Ryan over his shoulder and hid him in the basement. Then he called Nina. “Nina, help-”
Before Simon could finish, the door was kicked open. Simon quickly shoved his phone away, staring warily at the ten men in black, each one packing heat. He frowned as he thought, ‘Who the hell did Scarlet piss off?’
These guys definitely weren’t some average mobs. They were straight-up killers. “Hand them over,” the leader said in a cold, steady voice.
Simon, knowing when to play it smart, said, “I’ll give them to you; but you all need to back off first.”
The leader frowned, leveling his gun at Simon. “Cut the crap. Hand them over now.”
Simon let out a cold laugh. “Go ahead, shoot me. If I die, you’ll never find what you’re looking for.”
The leader’s finger tightened on the trigger. “Are you threatening me?”
“I wouldn’t dare. My life’s in your hands. How could I threaten you?” Simon spread his arms. “But I need to make sure I stay alive. With all of you here, how do I know you won’t just shoot me after I hand things over?”
Before the guy said a word, Simon kept going. “You’ve probably already wiped out everyone else here, right? You went through all this trouble just to get your hands on those things.
“Right now, I’m the only one who knows where they are. If you kill me, you’ll walk away with nothing.”
When Simon hid Ryan in the basement, he made sure to toss the potions in there, too. He’d considered using the potions to

bargain for Ryan’s life, but since it was so important to Scarlet, there was no way he could just hand them over.
If things went south, Nina would have his head. Right now, smarts were all he had to rely on.
The leader didn’t say a word, his eyes fixed on Simon with a deadly, sinister glare. Simon stood his ground, locking eyes with him, completely unafraid.
After about a minute, the leader raised his hand, signaling his crew to leave. These guys were pros. Nobody questioned the order, and they all filed out. Now, it was just Simon and the leader left in the room.
