Chapter 142
Chapter 142
“Shut up!” Sarah snapped.
She barked, “Are you here to celebrate my birthday, or just to stir up trouble? You barely come home once in a blue moon. and when you do, it’s just to make my life harder. What? Am I not dying fast enough for you?”

Waverly shot back, “You think I’m the one making trouble? You used to be happy whenever I came back. But now that Nina’s around, you can’t stand me anymore, huh?
“I just wanted to help you and have a chat, but you won’t even give me the time of day.”
Then she shot Nina a glare and added, “And her? No manners whatsoever. She doesn’t even acknowledge me as her aunt.”
Waverly snapped at Nina, “Let me make this clear: I’m not leaving this time. I want to see exactly what kind of game you’re playing.”
Waverly was already well aware that Nina had been brought back to the Swanson family while she was still in Betrico.
She also knew exactly what Nina had been up to in the Swanson family lately.
She had long wanted to come back and meet Nina in person, but she just couldn’t get away with everything she had going
Now that she’d seen it for herself, Waverly thought, ‘Nina is just as manipulative as everyone has warned.
‘She’s even got the nerve to play her little games right under my nose. Makes you wonder what she’s plotting when I’m not around.’
Nina narrowed her eyes and stared Waverly down.
Suddenly, Nina raised her foot and kicked Waverly, sending her flying across the room.
Sarah tried to stop Nina, but she couldn’t.
Sarah let out a sigh.
She thought, ‘Why do my kids never stop fighting?
‘Thanks to Nina’s moves, Linda and Judy have been keeping their heads down lately.
‘Even Vivian has been a lot more well-behaved.
‘But now, Waverly is back, stirring up trouble with Nina again.
‘Nina’s been so much better lately. She hardly ever gets physical with anyone anymore.
‘What is it with them? Why do they insist on provoking Nina?’
Nina putted Sarah’s hand, then looked up at Waverly. She snorted, “You think you deserve my respect?”
Waverly was helped up by Vivian and the others, her anger boiling over. She snapped, “You seriously Mit me?”
Nina strode right up to Waverly, stopped in front of her, and suddenly yanked her hair. She said, “I’ve got a bad temper, so don’t test me. Next time, it’ll be way worse than just a kick.”
With that, Nina turned around, helped Sarah into the car, and got in herself,

Chapter 142
As for Matthew, who had come with Waverly, Nina didn’t even spare him a glance.
The Swanson relatives exchanged awkward glances, all thrown off by Nina’s bold move.
Finally, James took charge and rounded everyone up into the cars, and they headed off to the hotel.
In the car, Nina was sitting there with a cold, silent face.
Sarah sighed and said, “Nina, you were too hot-headed just now.”
Nina bit her lip and said, “Grandma, you’re way too soft-hearted.”
Sarah fell silent.
Nina didn’t say anything else either.
These days, Nina had been trying to follow Sarah’s advice and keep her temper in check. If she could help it, she wouldn’t resort to violence.
But when it came to Waverly, Nina just couldn’t hold back.
Nina could never forget how, after Vivian finished tormenting her as a kid, Waverly would come in and bully her all over again.
Waverly put all the blame for her failed marriage on Nina.
It was all because Nina didn’t pass the IQ test: She was the only one in the Swanson family who didn’t make the cut.
Waverly believed Nina had cursed the family with bad luck and blamed her for her own marriage falling apart.
She took out all her anger on Nina; if anything, she was even nastier than Vivian.
Waverly used to poke Nina with sewing needles, then shove her head underwater, making her experience the terror of drowning, like she was dying right there.
She’d make Nina eat dog food and crawl around barking like a dog.
Only when Waverly left for Betrico with her husband’s family did the torment finally end.
After she moved to Betrico, Waverly barely ever set foot in the Swanson residence again.
The only time she came back was a few years ago, and it was for one reason only.
She showed up, demanding that Sarah give her 10% of the shares in the Swanson Group.
When Sarah refused, Waverly went ballistic and threw a fit.
In the end, James finally caved and, after discussing with his brothers, agreed to give Waverly five percent of the shares. Only ther.
