Heiress Returns Family Shocks (Nina Swanson) novel Chapter 156

Chapter 156

Chapter 156

After Sarah’s birthday party wrapped up, the guests all cleared out.

Ryan and a few of the Foster elders headed straight back to Betrico overnight.

There was still a lot of unfinished business waiting for them back at the Foster residence.

Elaine also returned to Seabridge. Someone at her place was stirring up trouble, so she had to rush back and set things straight.

As for Barry, Morgan, and the rest of the National Opera Troupe, they quietly slipped out on their own before the party was even over.

After seeing off the guests, Nina turned to the relatives who’d come in from the small town and said, “I’ve booked hotel rooms for you all. Get some rest tonight, and tomorrow I’ll have someone take you around Riverdale.”

“That’s very kind of you, but we only came for the birthday celebration. Now that it’s finished, we should probably be heading home,” said one of Samuel’s relatives, Jeffery Swanson.

He was also Nina’s distant cousin.

“The Swanson residence just doesn’t have enough space, or else I’d have you all stay with us,” Nina said politely. “Since you’re here, enjoy yourselves. If you need anything, just let me know.”

Jeffrey smiled at Sarah and said, “Aunt Sarah, you really have a wonderful granddaughter. Not only did she throw you such a great birthday party, but she’s also taken such good care of us. Honestly, I thought…”

Jeffrey paused, leaving the rest of his sentence unsaid.

He’d been about to say that he’d thought the Swansons wouldn’t want anything to do with their from the small town.

In fact, it wasn’t just his imagination. That was exactly how the Swansons treated them.

poor relatives

From the moment they stepped into the Swanson residence, Sarah’s daughters-in-law were distant and even openly disdainful.

Even though they were from a small town, they knew how to behave themselves.

Sarah was grinning from ear to ear. “Nina really is wonderful. Honestly, at my age, she’s the only one who truly looks after me.”

And when it came to taking care of these relatives from out of town, Nina was incredibly thoughtful.

Not only did she treat them with respect, she even made sure to book hotel rooms ahead of time, knowing it wasn’t easy for them to come all the way to Riverdale,

Nina never said a word about any of this to Sarah. She just quietly took care of it all herself.

But the rest of the Swansons were different.

They were so afraid that even saying one more word to these relatives would somehow lower their own worth. One could practically see the disdain dripping from their eyes.

If Nina hadn’t been around, some folks would’ve probably thrown them out right then and there.

The Swansons standing nearby looked like they’d just swallowed a lemon.

Sarah’s words were basically a public smackdown for them.

They grumbled to themselves. ‘So now Nina’s the only one who cares about her?

‘Just because Nina threw her a lavish birthday bash, does that mean the rest of us don’t even get a little credit?

‘And what about the millions we spent on those birthday gifts?’

Sarah didn’t pay any mind to what the rest of the family thought. She turned to Jeffrey and said, “Nina’s right. You all don’t get to visit Riverdale often, so now that you’re here, take your time and enjoy yourselves.

“I’m planning to put together some local specialties for you to take back to your parents in the next couple of days.”

“Thanks, Aunt Sarah,” Jeffrey replied, not bothering with any unnecessary formality.

Being too polite would just make things awkward.

After exchanging a few more pleasantries, Nina finally helped Sarah into the car.

Just as she was about to get in herself, Matthew called out from behind, “Nina, why not ride with me? I couldn’t make it back in time after you got home, so I’ve prepared a gift for you.”

Nina stood up, crossed her arms, and gave Matthew a look, half amused, half skeptical.

Matthew grinned. “Will you give me this honor?”

Nina smirked. “Of course.”

With that, Nina turned and hopped into Matthew’s car.

When he arrived, Matthew hadn’t taken the Rolls-Royce Nina had arranged. He’d come in his own ride.
