Upstairs in the villa, Sarah watched Nina’s retreating figure with gentle, loving smile. She then turned to the butler, Bill Miller. “Bill, help me to my room.”

Bill glanced at Sarah’s face and chuckled. “You seem to be in a particularly good mood today, ma’am.”

“Of course,” Sarah replied. “I used to think that all those years outside would have softened Nina’s temperament. But now… she’s even more decisive than before. That’s a good thing. I’ll never have to worry about her being bullied again.”

Bill smiled. “Mrs. Swanson, you care about Nina so much. I bet the other kids at home might be a little jealous.”

“It’s true that I took care of Nina the most when she was little, so maybe I do love her a bit more. But that’s only because she’s always been considerate and sensible. You can’t call that favoritisin.”

In truth, Sarah was fair with her grandchildren, but only when they were kids. When they grew up, she knew their personalities well. The kind-hearted, the schemers, she could tell them apart at a glance.

After joking with Bill for a moment, Sarah’s expression turned serious. “Any progress on the investigation?”

Bill’s expression mirrored her seriousness. “No results yet. Up to today, I’ve checked every corner of Riverdale-Celestra, every small town, every lead. But I still haven’t found anything about Lily’s real parents. Next, I plan to check Lysmere.”

Sarah removed the rosary beads from her wrist and rolled them gently between her fingers. “Be thorough. Leave no clue behind, not a single thread.”

“Yes, ma’am,” Bill replied. He hesitated a moment, then added, “And if I do find her parents… do we send her away?”

“Of course we send her away,” Sarah said, glancing at him sharply. “Do you think I’m being heartless? Even though Lily’s been with us all these years?”

“No,” Bill said. “You’ve been running the Swanson family for so long. I’m not questioning your judgment.

“Lily’s intentions have always been written on her face. I can see that she’s no good. I’m just saying… sending her away might be hard to explain to Vivian.”

Sarah’s fingers paused over the rosary beads. She put them dow her voice icy. “Vivian will have to think about how she’s going to explain it to me first.”

Bill froze, “What do you mean?”

“Tell me, why does Vivian favor Lily so much, when Lily isn’t even her daughter? Just because of that ridiculous ‘high IQ?” Sarah sneered. “Lily’s IQ is barely 150. Compared to a true genit, it’s nothing.”

“That’s true,” Bill said. “Ethan’s IQ is 180, yet Vivian never doted him like she does Lily. She’s spent a fortune raising her all these years.”,

He shook his head. “If we hadn’t done a DNA test for Lily and Vigan, I’d honestly think Lily was Vivian’s daughter.”

Bill wasn’t overthinking it. If not for the DNA test, anyone seeing Vivian’s doting on Lily would assume she was the real
