Chapter 161
She just wanted to protect Sarah in her own way.
But right then, she realized Sarah had the right to know the truth.
“No way!” Sarah’s eyes went wide in utter disbelief.
Not in a million years did she think Matthew would ever try to kill her.

She’d never really been close to Martin or Matthew. Since they were kids, Vivian always kept them close and made sure Sarah stayed out of the picture.
But even if she wasn’t close to those two, she’d never shortchanged them or neglected them in any way.
She just couldn’t understand for the life of her why Matthew would want her dead.
“Matthew needs to go,” Nina said coldly. “But right now, he’s tangled up in some other mess, and there are people already digging into his business. I can’t do anything to him just yet.”
Nina looked up at Sarah, her gaze unwavering. “Grandma, I can’t get back at him for you myself, but I promise I won’t let him get away with it. Don’t worry about the family business. Whatever I do, I’ll never let it hurt our family.”
Sarah was silent for a long time, then let out a sigh. “Go ahead, do what you think is right.”
She’d spent her whole life staying out of the spotlight, never fighting for anything, and all she ever wanted was for Nina to live a peaceful life.
But now that she was seventy, she had no idea how many years she had left, or how much longer she could keep Nina safe.
So, with that in mind, she decided to let Nina go ahead and do whatever she needed to do.
If Matthew was willing to poison her, then Nina might become his next target.
If they didn’t get rid of this pest, the Swanson family would never know peace, and Nina would never be safe.
After that, Nina hung out and talked with Sarah for a bit, then got ready to head back to her own room.
Just before leaving, Nina suddenly remembered something and said, “Grandma, I almost forgot. Grandpa’s legacy as a healer won’t be lost. I’ll choose someone from the younger generation in our family and teach them his craft.”
Sarah’s eyes welled up with tears. “Good. If your grandpa could see this from above, he’d finally be at peace.”
After Nina left, Sarah called for Anna.
After helping Sarah get settled in bed, Anna said, “We still haven’t found any leads on Lily’s birth parents. I pulled some strings and checked the DNA database, but there’s still nothing. Sarah, maybe it’s time we tried a

Sarah narrowed her eyes. “Run the paternity test between Lily and Vivian again. No, do it ten times, just to be sure. Send them all to the Betrico testing center.”
She paused, then added, “Find a few reliable people and have them keep a close eye on the testing center themselves. Don’t let anyone else handle the results. Once they’re ready, they go straight to you.”
Anna paused, looking a bit confused. “But we’ve already run the test several times before, and there’s no blood relation between Lily and Vivian.”
“I don’t believe it!” Sarah said firmly. “We’ve been searching forever and still can’t dig up anything about Lily’s real parents. What, did she just drop out of the sky or something?
“If there’s no trace of her birth parents, then the only explanation is that Vivian really is her mother, and those DNA test results must’ve been faked back then.”
“Alright, I’ll make the arrangements and handle it myself tomorrow,” Anna replied, knowing better than to ask any more questions.
Honestly, even Anna thought this whole thing was just crazy.
After all this time searching, they still had absolutely nothing.
Lily was like she just appeared out of nowhere.
“And starting tomorrow, I’m taking back the reins at the company,” Sarah announced, her tone firm and resolute.
