When Nina got back to the Swanson residence from the nightclub, the Swansons happened to have a guest

over.

It was Theodore Campbell, from the Campbell family in Cloudport.

He was Nina’s uncle and Joanna’s husband.

Nina didn’t have much of an impression of him.

She only remembered him coming over once with Joanna when she was little, and after that, he never showed up again.

Next to Theodore sat a young guy decked out in flashy clothes, legs crossed, looking every bit like a trust fund brat.

On the other side was an elderly woman, fuming with anger, like she’d just had a heated argument.

Everyone from the Swanson family was present, and except for Sarah, they were all just watching the show.

Sarah looked like she’d just had a fight, her face was still dark with anger.

“Sarah, I’m not here to argue,” Kelsey said, her voice tight with barely contained fury. “I’ve got one reason for coming. Joanna has to go back with me.

“She’s a married woman, but she’s been crashing at her parents’ place for years, leaving her husband and kids behind. What kind of wife does that make her?”

Sarah snapped, “Go back? So you can torture her all over again? You’re supposed to be respectable folks in Cloudport, but you treat your daughter-in-law like that?”

“I don’t like what you’re implying,” Kelsey shot back, standing up. “She’s married, she should be looking after her husband and kids. She doesn’t earn a dime, so what’s wrong with me making her do a little housework?

“If she can’t even handle that, what do we need her for? In the Campbell family, we don’t keep freeloaders.”

“Bullshit!” Sarah, who never cursed, was so furious that she couldn’t hold back. “You call that a little housework? You dump all the chores for the whole villa on her!

“What, is everyone else in the Campbell family dead? You expect Joanna to do everything by herself?”

“Sarah, that’s a bit harsh,” Theodore said, frowning. “Ever since I married Joanna, I’ve always treated her right.

“But her? I just ask her to help out around the house, and she acts like it’s the end of the world. Is it so wrong for my mom to criticize her a little?”

“Shut your mouth!” Sarah snapped. “I haven’t even started calling you out yet. Do you remember what you promised when you married Joanna? You said you’d always treat her well, but what did you do?

“You cheated on her, and even made your son call that homewrecker ‘Mom’ Look what you’ve done to my daughter. She used to be so happy, and now she’s a wreck because of you!”

Sarah’s rage only grew as she spoke. “If Joanna hadn’t stopped me from coming after you, I would’ve gone to your house and beat you to death myself, you scumbag!”

Sarah was so worked up that she clutched her chest, gasping for breath.

Nina’s expression turned grim as she hurried over and gently soothed Sarah, rubbing her back to help her calm down.

Once Sarah had calmed down, Nina said, “Don’t get worked up. Leave it to me.”

Sarah took a deep breath and gestured for Nina to step in and handle things.

Nina had just dragged her back from death’s door. Not a chance she’d let Sarah get so upset she ended up in trouble again.

Sarah was a bit intimidated by Nina’s methods, but when it came to dealing with the Campbells, only Nina could put them in their place.

“Evelyn and I are just friends. I’ve already explained everything to Joanna, but she just won’t believe me and insists on making a mess of things at home,” Theodore said.

“Sarah, no matter what, Joanna is my wife. She can’t keep living at your place. And Hazel is my daughter; she shouldn’t be staying here,” he added.

Sarah was about to blow up again, but Nina gently patted her hand, and Sarah managed to steady herself.

Nina didn’t bother with Theodore and looked straight at Joanna. “Aunt Joanna, do you really want to stay married to this guy?”

Joanna glared at Theodore with pure hatred. “This scumbag? I wouldn’t spend another second with him if I had a choice, but he’s a shameless deadbeat who just won’t let me go.”

“Understood,” Nina replied calmly. “Then divorce him.”

Theodore jumped to his feet, face twisted with fury. “Divorce? Not a chance! Joanna married me, and if she wants out, she’ll have to wait till I’m dead!”

Nina shot him a cold glare, stood up, strode into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and stabbed it straight into Theodore’s chair.
